Definately read the plays because there are pop quizes on each one. She loves people who participate in the discussions. One group presentation on one of the plays. Good variety of plays covered. Interesting class if you care about the subject.

I can't help but feel a bit jipped by this course since most of it consists of student presentations. It feels like I am having Wikipedia read to me the entire time. However, the days she DOES lecture are quite amazing. The texts she chooses are very interesting, I just wish there was more substance besides student presentations!

Matthews is a complete joke when it comes to an Undergrad Advisor! I transferred in from another JC and she would count as many Lower-Division classes as possible, but she did the complete opposite! Plus Matthews bumped me from the Performance to the General Option after I did my Audition. She either too busy or not very knowledgeable at her job!

A very easy class! Yeah, she really doesn't lecture much, except for the beginning and after each play you read. It's not really fact-based class but very... informal. I think I don't feel so jipped because the plays she chose for us to read were very good and all different from each other.

I don't expect much from a teacher except that she teach! If your looking to learn avoid her, if your looking to be bored out of your mind AVOID HER. The whole semest. was group projects. It was a waste of time. the groups talked about what the plays were about. I got an A and never studied. A monkey could BS their way through her test.

Give it to Barbara to make theatre full of laughs and intelligent conversations. She is an amazing professor that really loves what she is teaching. You have to read every play to understand what is going on, but its easy. She always says "this topic is something that you can bring up at your cocktail parties." She reviews exam questions. AWESOME!!

She's an awesome teacher who is passionate about what you're learning. Her class is to the point, her expectations are clear, and she's very open to her students. If you want to learn anything about theater, take this teacher. I've heard nothing bad about her before and assume I never will. She's the best.

She pretty much ruined theater(re) for me! Her approach was lame and she seemed like a hippie, object exercises are the stupidest crap I've ever heard of. If you already know what you're doing to some degree do not take her class because she'll set you back!
