Comment:

Very knowledgeable about music and makes basic theory easy to understand. A learn-by-ear guitarist, I learned a lot of what I was missing. If you talk, text, or doze off in class, she'll humble you pretty quick, and she almost certainly hates whatever music you like, unless you fancy the music of the 1800's. Good experience overall.

Dr. Owren wants people to learn about music and become passionate about it. Pay attention in class and you should be fine. Always ask questions if you're unsure. I have a musical background so it was easier for me than other students, but she explains everything so well that it shouldn't be hard to learn. Pay attention!!

I agree with the comment below. Stay focus and you'll do fine.She is moody so make sure you don't talk while she is talking; she will snap. Her final is super easy;she will let you know what will be on the exam. Assigns homework and gives you HW credit by your attendance.

Just be focused on what she's talking about, you will do fine. Don't look down or be losing focus when she's talking, otherwise, she would be really annoyed. Sometimes she's a little moody; other than that, she's a great professor. I enjoyed this class so much. I'm gonna miss her class a lot!

She is a great teacher when it comes down to being thorough, but one dissapointment i have with her is she is impatient for ex; if some reason you dont understand and you ask her the u ask her a question she would "sigh" like she is annoyed to answer. So if you want to pass the class with a good grade go to her class on time (don't be late!!!) <~~pet peeve and dont be rude like make noise while she's talking. Other then that you would enjoy her class....

Professor Owren is a very bright woman and is extremely passionate about music. She knows very well what she's teaching. She comes off as very arrogant but she's not. She is always willing to help. Very little homework. Just make sure to show up take notes, study, and you should do fine in her class!

She is more than willing to help those that want to be helped. She is really good at finding out what a person is doing wrong. She is very good at making people feel comfortable enough to sing in front of groups. If you are interested in singing take her class!

She knows her music, but I don't think she's a good teacher. She frequently derails lectures to start class rants about how our society doesn't appreciate the right kind of music. She doesn't seem to realize her class fulfills a subject students are required to take. You must read the book or take good notes. Very minimal homework.

She is such a great teacher. if you talk to her and get to know her, it makes class enjoyable. just dont do anything rude like leave class to answer your cell phone or show up late- it will piss her of and she will put you on the spot. i thought she was awsome.

I love her class, it's the sanity in my day to be able to go sing and not have any worries about the five other classes I'm taking. She's so helpful and fun and just a great teacher. Best teacher I've ever had.
