Comment:

He gives a lot of papers and if you haven't wrote the type of paper before you're screwed, he really doesn't explain his expectations at all.. he says follow the rubric and gives you an essay to read that is the style you have to write (Which really doesn't help). The rubrics are EXTREMELY vague and he doesn't follow it. He also doesn't give A's!

Professor Brookman's class consists of papers and projects (mostly group, one solo) that make up the major grades of the semester. Attendance, daily work (super basic, like explaining your class participation for each unit), and discussions make up the other percentages. Follow the rubric and you're guaranteed an A.

Brookman is really straightforward in his expectations, and he will work with you if you need it. He was my favorite professor thus far and I just finished my freshman year, and I had him for 111 and 112. Homework involves reading, but it's easy if you are opinionated since most of it is open-ended questions.

Love this man! As a science major I was constantly annoyed because his class was a lot more work then I wish it was, but the class was extremely enjoyable and I got the grade I deserved.

Quirky guy. He grades based on the rubric he gives you so as long as you follow the instructions you should be fine. Likes group projects/group work. Doesn't ask too much from students.

Had a wonderful time in this class. Just show up, participate in class discussions (comment THOUGHTFULLY, you won't get graded solely because you speak), write the papers and written discussion assignments and you pass; easy peasy. He's a super cool and respectable professor.

He is really nice and if you ask for help he will be more likely to help you but if you don't ask him for help because you are falling behind, he will not take out his time to help you. Also, expect a lot of reading and writings but he is an easy grader!

This class was very easy to do well in, but frustrating because it seemed like a waste of time. Professor Brookman is a little strange but very professional and easy. I'd recommend him.

This is definitely a class in which A level effort (and there will a lot of effort) A level grade. The instructions for assignments are as clear as day, and the syllabus is laid out online, so keep up. One major pitfall is that students fall behind or don't show up (and even then, he works with you). Books were never used (look online) but YMMV.

Ugh I was glad when this class was over. Just lots of work. Yeah it's pretty easy work, but this class is NOT for the lazy. It's just not. The discussion papers add up, there are many of them. 3 papers, 1 group presentation, 1 solo presentation each semester. 2 people lead a reading class discussion twice a week at least.

Very nice guy. The class is pretty demanding, lots of work! But it's all pretty easy. I would definitely recommend him! You have to go to class and you have to buy the book.

He cracks me up. He's really easy as long as you show up to class (which is pretty much mandatory not by him but by the school). Most of class is on the reading but even if you don't read you can still easily participate. The papers aren't graded hardly at all. Overall great guy

I LOVE BROOKMAN. He has a very dry sense of humor but I think he is funny. He is a bit of a harsh grader at first, but he is just trying to let you know what he expects. no tests or quizzes. Very likable and understanding, acts more like a high school teacher which is nice for a freshman. Great teacher, very fair.

Brookman is clear about what he wants from students so it's hard to not do well on assignments. He's friendly and approachable and actually helps when grading papers and such. I'd recommend him to any incoming freshmen since college is a new experience, and he's similar to high school teachers.

great teacher! work isn't too bad. just read what e tells you to read because he likes to give quizzes. Participate in student-led discussions. We've had 3 papers so far and I've done very well on all of them. If you do poorly he lets you rewrite it.

Did not enjoy. Terrible grader, will always give a boy a higher grade. Grades based on his opinions rather than a rubric. Lowered my grade because a portion of my project was "lame". Attendance is mandatory...but I never wanted to go. Waste of time, and he's never very clear about what's due and what the objective is.
