Boring old movies shown in class everyday. Tests are a little hard because of trick questions, etc. Assigns readings weekly. Just pay attention and show up and you'll pass. Takes random attendance. I don't think he will be teaching anymore though. Wasn't interesting at all because of the constant movie showing.

Knows what he is talking about since he's been in the field of anthropology for so long. Shows movies every single class. Read the guidebook and you will do fine

He's REALLY nice. He puts on pretty cool videos, and has stories about traveling around the world. Takes attendence on a few random days to see who shows up. Grade is based off of one paper and 3 tests. Talks quickly, but will repeat if asked. Practice tests areavaiable online, which are REALLY helpful.really chill & reminds me of robin williams ha

Very dedicated in teaching is subject to the class. But the only bad thing is that he shows movies at every class, and when you have class at 9am you will fall asleep in that class for sure. Trust me, movies were fun in high school, but not in this class because they are super lame. 3 tests and 1 essay throughout the semester, got a C+.

He really loves anthropology, but he made it so you had to learn everything on your own. All he did was show movies. I did get a higher grade in the class than I thought I would get, which was only a C+.

He was super passionate about the class it eventually made me as well. The first class of the year he showed students opinions of him from this site. Very cheerful and passionate and showed comics relating to art history each. He is exactly what you would picture an Anthropology professor looking like, walking around campus with his pipe!

Open note tests... can't argue with that! I hope you like Darwin! The video with him playing Charles Darwin was worth taking the class. Haha what a cute old man... and yes he's constantly running around the class but it's just b/c he's passionate.

His teaching style can be a little confusing. He talks really fast about things that seem kind of random, and the readings are all assigned in a seemingly random fashion. I find it helpful to not try and translate the info. Just take in as much info as you can and pay attention to the MAIN IDEAS in the guidebook, don't get lost in all the quotes.

In the beginning of the semester I hate this class, and him. Once I started going to SI and really studying the material the class became a lot easier, and I learned a lot more. It takes awhile to get use to his teaching style, he's very off the wall. If you don't like to work hard this is NOT the class for you.

Dr. Urbanowitz is a really awesome professor. If you're the type of person who is still living in the high school life, and you don't like embarrassing yourself by being engaged in a class with a dorky, super-intelligent teacher, then this is not the class for you. If you want to learn about something cool, you will.

He is such an intellegent man, the epitomy of a college profesor, curled mustache and pipe! As long as you read the guidebook and read, you'll pass the class. It's really interesting and this guy is so funny!

This class is pretty easy and predictable as long as you keep up with all the readings and pay partial attention during the films. He's a funny guy and does in fact say "along the way" a lot. I personally haven't counted, but he's still a pretty good guy and works at a fast pace.

I love this Professor. His lectures are engaging and very interesting. It's my first class in the morning, three days a week, and he is able to keep me awake; that is an accomplishment in itself. The films he shows are pretty sweet, and the fact that he has his PhD and has traveled and actually done his share of anthropological work...just gives him that much more credibility. Much respect for this guy, he rocks.
