Love her! She's pretty fun and tries to make lectures interesting. You don't need to buy the textbook. You know what to expect when going into tests, although her questions can be tricky sometimes. Just study her notes and you will do just fine! Enjoy her class, she's great!

As a hybrid class, the in-class lectures were not very helpful, but you should still go in order to get the activity points. As a science major the material very easy because I was familiar with it already, but to someone taking it for their gym and doesn't have much interest in nutrition/a background in science I might choose something else.

She may be funny but thats about it. 451 could be so much better than it actually is. She doesn't even use powerpoints... its 2013. She tests you on statistics... the thing that has the least significance in science because its always changing. Unfortunately, nutrition majors have to take this class and she's the only one who teaches it

Very entertaining and funny. Tells lots of stories which helps make the dry material more bearable to learn. You learn a lot and a lot of info is thrown at you but exams are multiple choice and very doable if you study your notes and use her study guides. Responds to emails fairly promptly so that's always helpful.

Dr. Patterson is the best professor I've had this semester! Yes, she uses overheads, but who really cares, they are just as helpful as power points. If you have to take 251, TAKE IT WITH HER! I have learned so much about Nutrition, and it is not that hard if you PUT IN THE WORK. It is worth it! And she is really, really funny!

I LOOVEEE Dr. Patterson!! The most knowledgeable prof in her field I've ever encountered at Penn State. Class can be hard but just do the study questions before the exam and you'll be fine. Don't take Nutr 251 if you don't need to for your major. If you do need it take Dr. Patterson!

I took this class hybrid for a GH easy 3 credit. THIS CLASS WAS NOT EASY! IF YOU WANT AN EASY GYM, DO NOT TAKE THIS! I loved Patterson's dry sense of humor, but that was it. Lots of outside work to do, and multiple choice tests were pretty hard.

GREAT Professor! She is very concise and presented the information extremely well. I learned SO MUCH in this class and she was energetic and funny. She really knows her information. The class requires a lot of studying and it can be challenging if you do not put the effort into it, but I loved this class. Definitely take it!

Although she might be a bit outdated, her class made me swtich to the Nutritional Sciences major. If you're interested in Nutrition, you'd love this class, not too hard, got an A with normal amount of effort.

Took this class hybrid, with class once a week and the rest online..weekly quizzes which get really routine and easy after a few weeks, exams not that difficult, need to read the lessons and skim the book but lots of questions come from the quizzes and study questions she gives..i recommend this class, she is a really good teacher

Old-fashioned teacher in terms of technology use. Besides that she is a very good professor. Knows the information very well. Makes stupid, but funny little jokes. Tells you exactly what is on the exams. Exams are fair and allow you to earn more points on them by having a group test half way through. Nice lady. Take her class above all others.

the worst professor i have ever had.she must hate technology because she uses a 100 year old overhead projector to display in-class notes.i sat in the front row and they were still faded!if she learned how to use MSpowerpoint her lectures would be a lot clearer..literally!Nittany notes are exactly like her lecture, which is the only plus

Do not take NUTR 251 unless you get Dr. Patterson. She is extremely knowledgable in the subject area. Her lectures are thorough and interesting. Tests are difficult, but her study questions are very helpful. Superior note-taking skills are required for this course. Overall, a very good teacher whose rating is short-changed.
