My favorite professor at KU. His lectures are interesting and makes you think outside the box and it's obvious how much he cares about his subject and students. He also tries to engage with the class so it doesn't feel like you're just sitting there and listening to a textbook. There is a lot of writing, but don't let that put you off.

Chris is a great professor. While EVRN 142 is often boring and sometimes overly philosophical, if you show up to class and pay attention, the midterm and final essays are easy. Chris is very enthusiastic and respects his students. If you actually do the readings and go to class, this class should be a piece of cake.

Thinking of taking Environmental Studies 142 with Professor Brown, DONT DO IT UNLESS YOU HAVE TO! All of the philosophy crap about place making & we're using up too much oil is ridiculous. The Test are 3 essays per test (500-700 words) and the questions are so broad and narrow minded that its impossible to explain it where you even get a B. DONT

Great teacher! Class discussion/lectures were awesome. Chris is very laid back and animated so it keeps everyone interested. Reading material is also interesting. I recommend this class for any major, eye-opener!

very enthusiastic about his teaching. make subject interesting. things discussed in lectures can be covered on exam which consist of: multiple choice, t/f, short answers, and essays. take good notes and pay attention to things he stresses. attendance is part of overall grade. took this course summer 08 and got an A.

This class sometimes has an overwhelming amount of writing, but the assigments aren't very hard and if you do them you're almost guaranteed a good grade. As far as my hot comment, there's just something about his little satchel and 80's belt.

I took his honors tutorial on globalization and environmental problems. It was a lot of work but very do-able. HE was really cool, and loves his subject matter.

He was great and made the class environment very comfortable - we got to even choose the locale where we wanted to have these very casual discussions and ended up walking from Nunemaker to The Studio to have breakfast a lot. He makes things so interesting and makes sure everyone gets a chance to speak up! :D

Good professor. If you do the reading and come to class, you'll have enough to take the tests. The class isn't too difficult.

Very nice guy, but tests are very difficult and anything mentioned might show up on a test. Will be talking about one subject which leads to another and to another...at the end of class, there are random words on a chalk board and nobody knows what is important or how they relate. Get to drop a test

The lessons had little to do with what would actually be on the tests and poorly prepared students. His teaching style was easy to follow and he has a nice personality.
