This class was a pain from the beginning to the end. I thought it would get better, but I was horribly mistaken. I understand that he is to retire at the end of this year, but that isn't an excuse to just blatantly not care about the students. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AND SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS!!!

He's fair. He's very knowledgeable about the subject. I really did like him. If I had to take another religion course, I would absolutely take him. I think he takes sufficient time when grading assignments and papers. You must pay attention in class. When he writes on the board, IT'S IMPORTANT... Good luck.

Dr. Brittain is a very knowledgeable in this subject and is very likable. He prefers the tradition oral lectures but his classes can be boring at times. His tests are very easy if you read the textbook. He also gives out answers for the tests during reviews. His weekly questions should be answered with 2 paragraphs or more for an A+.

Doesn't know how to use technology. Painfully slow grader. Lectures are interesting, but he usually just shows videos. Not the worst, but certainly not the best. Wouldn't take again.

I took REL 201 online and he was super hard. Barely emails the class and takes a while to email back. He was very confusing about assignment due dates and I felt like I was kind of on my own. Tests are at the testing center and are very hard. He assigns weekly questions and I made a 70 on the majority of them. He doesnt give 100's. My first C ever.

Took his course online. It's a miracle if you get a response to an email. Essay grading is very unclear. I still wonder where some of the test questions came from. I spent way more time on the subject than one would expect to spend on an elective course. Maybe he is a better professor in person, but if you have to take online, find someone else

never emails back. on the tests, the information is not just from book/lecture, no idea where its from. you will work VERY hard in class/at home studying for hours to make a C/B on the test. Material is graded on his time. Unorganized course, do not take if you do not have to.

55% of your overall grade comes from 5 tests which are unclear and difficult to study for. I'm normally an "A & B" student, but this class I'll be lucky if I get a "C". Easy going teacher who is semi helpful, but a very slow grader. Overall, be ready to work extremely hard for a decent grade. And, make sure you are ready to take a ton of notes!

This is an online "college" class and you are expected to follow the syllabus, write weekly papers to thought provoking questions, take online tests, write essays but otherwise pretty straight forward. Emails were answered in a timely manner and questions I asked were answered. After all this is college and you are expected to think..

Should not be teaching an online course. Or teaching at all, probably. Has several typos in his notes. Does not email back, ever. Unclear grading criteria. Useless grading comments on papers and assignments. Would not take a class again from this professor even if someone paid me.

Stay away! Took his class online and could not get any help. Emailed him NUMEROUS times throughout the term with questions pertaining to assignments with NO RESPONSE EVER! He is a very poor communicator. Follow the syllabus and you'll be ok. Just make sure you understand it because he will not answer emails to clarify.

Comment:

Utilized the lecture method of teaching rather than writing on the board or using slides, so be ready for intense note-taking based on speech. If you miss a lecture, you're done, but he knows his subject very well and can be extremely helpful if you ask for it.

Do not take Brittain online. He's not that helpful online, but if you take him in class and you read and pay attention, he's great. He's interesting, thorough, and goes over what you need to know for tests. His tests are only hard if you haven't paid attention, and he does require lots of detail on essays. If you're willing to work, he's great.

I expect to have a lot less communication with my online teacher; however, there was the bare minimal. I would email him countless time, 0 return on emails. Even though it was world religion, the final was based primarily on one. I probably wouldn't attend another class.

Religion in general is hard, that's a no brainer. Online, you cannot expect the same "feel" as in class. You have to attend his lectures online & interact with the class (which was new to me since I have never had a class that required that). It isn't a terrible class. Brittain knows his stuff and expects his adult students to study. Not too bad.

Stay far away from this guy unless you really & truly already know your stuff. He knows what he's talking about but talks in circles & will have you so lost! Forget getting an email answered!But the good thing is if you do the work you get an A/B no matter what you write b.c he doesn't even read your papers. Use the online quizzes & study guides.

Very very poor with communication. Couldn't find essay questions, asked repeatedly with no response. Otherwise, very easy class. He did allow people to make up missed work and I should have gotten an A, had I checked my grades (didn't know I was missing stuff). Overall, decent class, just don't expect much communication.

I found the class to be what I expected. After reading the other reviews, prior to my posting, I found most of the online class expected 1 on 1 treatment but it is an online class. It's my job to teach myself, keep track of the course, etc. I never expected the professor to send me emails, call, or whatever the others expected. Great class.

Dr. Brittain is not great. He doesn't interact with students at all in the online.He would never email back.I would not at all recommend him.Stay away!!!!
