While harsh at times, I have to give her a good rating because her strictness is for the benefit of the student. Trust and believe, that woman is NO JOKE! But if you're having problems and approach her for help, she'll magically transform into the sweetest, most helpful professor you could ask for and will go out of her way to help you!

Professor P is a nice lady but she often goes on and on for no reason at all about things that aren't relevant to English. She isn't a fan or sorority girls (I know from experience) but she will talk to you after class and help. She expects you to act like an adult and attend her class regularly, or else she will call you out on it. Pretty easy.

THIS CLASS WILL KICK YOUR A**! Honestly, this is by far the hardest class I've taken so far but I don't regret it one bit. I've learned a tremendous amount and my writing has improved dramatically. She is VERY harsh on individual assignments. Group essays are what saved me.

This class is all about her ego. Take a look at her email signature -- it goes on forever and lists credentials that have nothing to do with GMU. On the other hand, she forces you to do real research and that will serve you well in the future. Also, too much group work. Yuk.

This class is entirely too devoted to documenting sources and using endnote; it's not a fun class at all, and frequently the professor gives her "soap box" speal about feminist and gay rights. I really wouldn't care either way, but I recommend guys take a different teacher; it's BS.

Prof.Patterson is tough and she will warn you about that in the beginning. If you are not willing to put forth the effort, find another teacher; however, if you work hard and show effort, you should have no problem with her class. SLACKERS BEWARE! This is not the class for you. Excellent professor.

She is no tougher than some of the bosses I've had in my career. She teaches the class from a real world approach. She's easier on you than the work world, but you get a taste of what the expectations of an employer would be especially the amount of deliverables and timeframes for delivery.

AWESOME!!! She can kick you a** but at the end it's absolutely worth it. At the end of the semester my writing had improved greatly. However, if you are a slacker trying to pass the class, you need to sign up for a different professor. You go Prof. P.

Prof. Patterson is amazing. She is extremely helpful and dedicated. I learned a great deal in her class and every assignment is relevant. She is not easy by any means, but the work load is not comparable to how much you gain coming out of the class.

This class is hard because there is so much work, but if you actually do the work and go to class, there is no way to get a bad grade. What lacks in terms of volume of work, she makes up for in ease of grading. My writting improved, end of story.
