This was an awful class. The teacher would tell us during class that the next class would be one of our performances. She did not follow the syllabus so youd have no warning until shed give you the information. When asked questions she never answered clearly or would defer to having to ask another teacher. She graded easy but I learned nothing.

I have never had ASL before. This is not an EASY A class. Instructor is very helpful though and will work with you as long as you pay attention. Don't bring your laptop to class and expect to use it. She gets very upset about that. Starts exams promptly, don't be late.

Comment:

This teacher is nice & all, but she's SOOOO BORING!!!! Especially compared to all the other ASL teachers (deaf or hearing)I've had or met before. We have to ask her fun questions jus to keep our interest. Every single one of my classmates have complained about how boring she is. But the good thing is that her class is not hard. Tests are REAL easy.

Great teacher. Attendence is mandatory, but hello it's school. Easy test and short. Willing to help and let you do make up test. Read your FHPO Chapters and go to your events. Ask questions when having trouble. Shes good at having patience with newbies :-)(new signers)

Attendance is required-she WILL kick you out. She is not a fun professor, but you will learn a lot. Seems to get annoyed if you ask questions. However, her signing is very clear, and tests are relatively easy. HOWEVER, she has a tendency to put signs on the tests that were not covered in class. Would only take again if no one else was offered.

Ballard is an aweome teacher with a great personality. I had a whole different view of sign language after the class was over. It seemed like everyone was in it in the beginning to make a few bucks in the future. I think we all left w/great appreciation for the language.

shes really nice and funny. you have weekly quizes over readings in the book and then you have tests over units. its a pretty easy course as long as you practice your signing. i highly recommend her.

She is very patient and really good about helping out. She is deaf but that makes her that much better of a teacher for ASL. She reviews before every quiz and test and is very straight forward about what she expects to be done and turned in. She makes ASL very fun and simple. I plan on taking her again.
