Had him for property I and II. He was the WORST professor I've ever had. Nothing he says is clear, you ask a question and he makes you feel like an idiot. When you take the midterm and the average is an 8/20 and when you meet to go over it, it's only a waste of time. They call him Failing Finnegan for a reason! AVOID HIM IF YOU LIKE YOUR GPA

Comment:

He's too smart in the subject. You're being graded by a genius so that's not going to go well. Plus the subject matter is boring on it's own so it's not easy to learn on your own. He's 100% lecture and he's a fast talker because he's so proficient the topic. Aim for another prof unless you love challenges.

Comment:

I had him for Property I and liked him more in Property II. Professor Finnegan has a way of taking material which is confusing and breaking it down for those who are often disinterested. In Property II, Professor Finnegan was much more social. He even made a joke or two. At the end of the day, I am glad I had him for property law I and II.

Comment:

Professor Finnegan was one of my favorite professors at Cooley. Yeah, it is a difficult class, but if you study and participate you will do well. Don't freak out if you get a 50% on the midterms or score poorly on your final. There is a pretty decent curve which helped my overall grade. Even though this course was tough, I know the material well!

So, here you are in your first law school class ever.. supper pumped and just can't wait... then the professor opens his mouth to lecture and it all goes down hill. He just lectures and it's never clear, you practically need to memorize the entire book because he worships the textbook! Oh and he will make you feel dumb.

Very good professor who's extremely passionate about the subject. He's not easy whatsoever. He likes to see both sides of the argument and will call on just about everyone in the class at least once so always be prepared. Overall, a great professor, but you will work for your grade.

If you are primarily a visual learner, then you might want to find another professor. Auditory learner? You'll be fine. Many students understand his class, but if you depend on examples, practice questions, and powerpoints or any form of supplement - good luck in his class. Plus, lectures are somewhat boring so bring some scrap paper for doodling.

Finnegan is a good professor. He is a genius and knows property law like the back of his hand, but he's so boring. No visual aids, so it's difficult to understand what's going on during lecture if you're a visual learner. Hard but fair grader.

I agree with the consensus. Finnegan is an excellent professor. He is a tough grader, but he is also fair. He doesn't hide the ball. If you study hard, you should do well on his Final. I had him for Property I and II; wouldn't have done as well as I did without him.

Best prof at Cooley, hands down! You're going to know your stuff once he's done with you. Fair grader, make sure to practice multiple choice before his exam (it seems people struggled to get 50% right, so if you can score in the 60's, your pickin up points on the field). Had him for property I and II and got A- in both.

Much clearer and more passionate about what he is teaching than Brennan. Finn is hard and demanding, but you will know Em. Domain, and Equitable servitudes. Such a great guy and very, very intelligent.

He is not the easiest professor and his exam is HARD, but I scored an A- so it must not be THAT hard. He knows his stuff and he cares about whether or not you understand the concepts. It's up to you to ask for help if you need it. And you have to do the reading or you will be lost. I would take him again as a professor.

The person who said to pick up the Emanuel's and to go through his past exams was spot on. The guy is amazing, though. No question, Finnegan is one of the best this school has. He gets super animated in class and manages to turn one of the most abstract topics into one that is very concrete and down to earth.

Best professor ever! He has the book memorized. I've met with him outside of class and he's very easy to talk to! Just had his exam and thought it was fair. TAKE HIM IF YOU GET THE CHANCE!
