Great professor. Knows how to teach well. He is tough on grading and can take off points for small things but he tells you what he expects from the beginning and how to avoid losing those small points. Hes also good at challenging you with a question and making sure youre confident in your answer. Great professor that you should take!

I've had this prof. for ECE2202 and ECE3355, and both times were a pleasure. He is extremely concise and goes over the material very thoroughly. I asked him many questions during class and office hours and he was extremely respectful and always offered his expertise to figuring out any problem. I would highly recommend this prof any time!

Dr. Dave takes attendance very serious. His classes are interesting and full of work. He would work examples on the board; and if you ask, he can work out a problem you dont understand. Final exam was very challenging. He wants to make sure you know your material. Being a senior, I am now thankful I took this class, and learned circuits right.

If you take Dr. Shattuck, for intro to circuit analysis you will flat out FAIL! Definitely not recommended and I wasted one of my withdrawals on this class.

I think this professor teaches more conceptually rather showing multiple examples on the board which sucks bc his exams are not conceptual. In my personal opinion, he is a tough grader, even though he does make things clear on what he wants your not thinking about that on an exam. I think his lectures were average, he is a nice person by heart.

Dr. Dave is upfront from day 1 on what he expects. You'll see that people find him a tough grader, but he tells you what he expects on the test. He challenges his students to ask him to rephrase something if they don't understand and is genuinely a caring professor. He's easily accessible through email and office hours. His lectures are amazing.

This guy is an ECE beast! He is so clear and concise that he will make learning the material a joy. He had me laughing every lecture and he gives out candy like it's going out of style! He will teach you everything you need to know and bonuses like how to keep birds feet cool in the summer. He is a must take!

He is the hardest grader that I have had in ECE at UH. If you learn well from random analogies and stories, he may be better for you. If you learn from doing examples of the actual problems, good luck because he does basically 1 example per section. Takes off tons of points for small errors, partial credit is unheard of.

I have taken Dr Dave for Circuits 2 and Electronics and although he has a good heart and likes his job, he is a gatekeeper. You have to work EXTREMELY hard in his classes. Electronics with him was too difficult and there is usually an easier option with someone else. He curved Electronics in the end and it worked out so that I barely passed.

Comment:
Dr. Dave is a good professor but a savage grader. I had to take his class twice because his grading is ruthless. Misplacing negative signs can be the difference between an A and a C on an exam. He likes to joke around during lecture, but he's cutting back on it, which I appreciated because it got a little too distracting for me.

Dr. Dave is a good professor and explains all concepts in detail. However, he takes a lot of time going over the material. If you practice multiple problems you should be fine. Do not procrastinate.

Dr. Dave is one of the best lecturers you will encounter in the ECE department. He loves the material and he will try his best to explain every concept to you, and he will succeed most of the time. The way he grades, however, is ruthless. PAY ATTENTION TO THE LITTLE DETAILS WHEN DOING YOUR EXAMS, you will lose a lot points otherwise.

An amazing professor who clearly cares about his students learning a lot and doing well. He's been teaching for a long time, so he knows what he's doing. That said, he's a really tough grader and this isn't an easy subject. It's a lot of work, a lot of studying, and takes a lot of initiative on your part.

Dr. Dave is by far the best professor UH has to offer. There is a difference between a lecturer and a teacher, and Dr. Dave is indubitably a teacher. He is engaging, and he even takes time out of his evening to make review sessions. This comes to show that he truly cares.

Comment:
Dr. Dave is passionate about teaching circuit analysis and electronics, and it shows in his lectures. He is a very tough grader, almost to a fault. He routinely docks points for non-technical mistakes. In addition, I find his lectures to be quite boring as he purposefully repeats himself often to emphasize points.

By far the best teacher for ECE 2300. Show up to class and follow along, and you will have no problem understanding concepts. Very tough grader; but discusses what is expected to receive full credit. Old exams are very helpful to understand expectations. Ask questions and he will answer them.

One of the toughest professors in UH Engineering. But you will come out of the class feeling like an engineer even if you don't pass. He will make you truly improve your critical thinking skills.
