Comment:

This is probably one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Dr. Buckalew is a really tough grader and he expects you to know a lot of information but if you study hard and put a lot of time and effort into this class you will be ok. Dr. Buckalew loves what he does & brings forth a positive energy. You'll enjoy his class although it's super hard.

Comment:

Dr. Buckalew has high expectations and he teaches a difficult subject. Even so, he is an amazing professor and I have learned so much in his class. I would recommend him to anyone-- he really does care about his students. He gives amazing lectures. Sit in the front, he likes to draw on the board. Possibly the best Prof I've had at Longwood.

Comment:

He is a great professor overall. The only time I have run into an issue is during a bacterial unknown assignment where he will not offer any assistance. Also, hid group projects are completely unclear. You get a topic and told to run with it. No rubric or guidelines. Other than that, good class.

Of course this is a tough class, It's freakin micro. But he makes it really enjoyable because he is so passionate about it. The labs are really fun. You have to get used to his style of notes (pictures). His tests are tough (bc its micro) but they are fairly straightforward. I also like that he gives weekly quizzes so it makes you study for tests.

test were very difficult! i went in thinking i knew the material but i would still get F's on the test. all he did the whole lecture was scribble pictures on the board. very confusing class!

one of my least favorite professors at longwood, he made me hate being a biology major. I studied everyday for his tests and still got a C- in the class. He is extremely smart but just not a good professors, he loves nursing majors.

Love Dr. B, he is hilarious in class and makes things so interesting, but cmon, its college, youre going to have to study on your own just as much as you study during lecture. He is very helpful with test times, always gives students study guides and holds study sessions

Teaches like you're already supposed to know the information. His tests/quizzes are nothing like what he's taught in class. He tries to teach with drawings that are sloppy and all over the board and make absolutely no sense. Would not recommend if you want to pass.

I LOVED DR. B!!!! HE IS AN AWESOME TEACHER WHO EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE. HE KNOWS HOW TO KEEP THE CLASS' ATTENTION. DO WHATEVER POSSIBLE TO GET HIM!!!!!

Dr.B is a great professor. His style is unlike any other. 12 quiz's low 2 are dropped. 3 exams in which you must know every little detail. 2 hard lab exams and mid term and final. It is a 5 credit class and the lab is just as demanding... so strap your bacteria boots on and get ready baby !! cool class, loves his immunology.
