Comment:

Dr. Ashe came into class expecting that all of the students had taken computer science. I hadn't, so I was very confused the first day when we talked about algorithms. I e-mailed him and asked and he was very accomodating. He went back in class and taught it from the very beginning. I would highly recommend Dr. Ashe! :)

Worst class ever. He is incomprehensible, and doesn't allow calculators. How in the world do you teach a Statistics class without a calculator?!?! I failed this class, then took it at a community college and made an A. Do NOT take his class! Everyone who I know that has taken his classes has struggled!

Very strict and has no emotions. No hats. Tests are optional except for the final. On his 1st test I had 3 wrong answers, but missed almost 1/2 b/c it wasn't the way he wanted. Learn his way and know your stuff and it's not too bad.

I took this class and failed it my first semester because I never went to class. Did the homework, though. Has a tricky plan that if you miss a test then your final will substitute for it. Failed the final. Retook it in the spring with him again and got a B. I would say he is a difficult professor for a basic level math class. Find another prof...

I dreaded this class everyday!!! He is horrible do not take him!! He is confusing and makes careless mistakes atleast once every lecture period.I was on pins&needles when it came to passing but I ended up receiving a D! We could not use a calculator & your grade strictly depends on 4 Test!

He is the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. I'm an A student & I have lower than a C. He grades his tests impossibly hard. He LOVES to waste class time talking about himself. *HE* can't even do the problems he assigns/makes up correctly. How does he expect us to? I CAN'T BELIEVE I PAID FOR THIS CLASS! COMPLETELY WORTHLESS! Please let it end.

This guy should not be allowed to teach. The guy that sits in the front has to correct him every 15 minutes. He makes as many mistakes as I do and I have a D! Do your GPA a favor and DO NOT take this guy. Thanks to this guy my gpa is going to be shot, and a D on my transcript is bad. Take all your math at Chatt state! UTC Math dep is HORRIBLE!!!

Boring and hard to understand Doesn't seem to know the material very well. Repeatedly did problems on the board incorrectly and then just changed the answer without explaining how to correctly solve the problem. Only plus is that you do not have to come but you should if you want to pass. Completely unhelpful. Take someone else or a different class

Great teacher. When I first came to the class I was scared. I was told that statistics was very hard, but when I got in there I found that it was the easiest class I took. Ashe made it very interesting and he explained everything very well. His stories were very interesting. Overall, I definitely recommend Ashe for Stats 210.

Good teacher - would come in with notes and put problems up on the board from the notes, but then make a mistake and get lost. He assumed that everyone in the class knew algorithms, but I didn't. I e-mailed him and he went back and explained algorithms for the class. He is always ready to answer questions - you just have to take the time to ask.

He is a good professor but I think that he needs to understand that students have other classes and trying to remember all those formulas for a test is not easy. He also makes you feel stupid if you ask a question. He has strict class rules. Just do you homework and you will be fine.

Good teacher for harder classes. Take him for any level statistics. You have to get him talking about beer for him to get fired up and in a good mood. Note he likes darker beers. People think he's crazy but he was in the Air Force and I don't know a pilot that isn't a little wierd.

He's not the greatest teacher at UTC and it definitely shows that he would rather teach higher level classes than lower classes b/c I had him for Calc 151 and he absolutely hated that class. He was fair on tests, but they were definitely hard, and his grading policy is not the best. Don't take him for lower level classes, but do for higher levels.
