If you can take biochemistry from other professor then I suggest you do so. Otherwise, make sure to do the quizzes, the final exam sample questions (really important) and watch the videos. You will learn more from the videos then from attending class. Lastly, don't waste your time going to him for help because he will humiliate you.

Ive taken his Biochem and took his Mam Phys and Neuro in the same semester and got an A in all. If you want an A too listen up. Screw the books, you don't have time for that. Also, showing up to class isn't important. Heres why. He records his lectures. Take DETAILED notes on EVERYTHING he says rewinding frequently. Own these notes. Win the game.

He teaches this class as if everyone is preparing for med school, but this is for a Bachelors degree. Tests are impossible. He assumes the topics are easy. While lecturing he says, "Easy so far, right?" Acts like it's a favor that you can retake it. Office hours don't help because if you are confused he'll just make you feel stupid. Avoid.

Great prof. Always willing to help you understand the material if you need it. Don't expect to get through a 600 lvl class withoit studying however.

Tough class--you actually have to learn the material!!! The way he teaches and gives his lectures really really helps in comprehension and remembering everything. Make sure to use the CD/website that comes with the book--really helps. Good class, especially for future med/pharmacy students. DrD is a great professor, wants you to learn!

My first impression was this guy is funny. Don't get me wrong I am sure he is a very smart individual but he was trouble explaining concepts and confuses himself at times. The hardest part is deciphering what he is trying to ask on his tests which makes people struggle. I am a A student and I am struggling in his class. If you have a choice avoidhi

Started out slacking and got F midterm. Then did what he said: text reading (I outlined), quiz, lecture, hwk pset, repeat. Ended up with an A on the final=A overall. I think the textbook and old exam (check answers with him, think of different ways to ask the ?, and focus on the sections in the text where exam answers are found) are most important.

Dr D was terrific. If you simply do what he suggests to do in preparing, then you will do well. The posted old exam works well to prepare. Take this guy!

I had Dr D for Mam Phys, Biochem, Neurobiology, Neuro Anat., and others and got all A's. It's about really interacting with the material, wrestling with the book, and going to him in his office hours! He will help you understand the information and make you get it! I was pre-med so it was the perfect style of teaching for me!

You can know the material front to back, but if you cannot decipher his test questions & choose the "most correct" or "most wrong" answer you can still manage to fail his tests. He teaches just about every important class in the MolecBioscience major and if you dont speak his language you're screwed. So much for the 7 yrs of almost straight A's I had

The subject is difficult. He posts everything online including recordings which makes it easy to learn, but also easy to procrastinate. He asks questions requiring you to make connections yourself in order to answer them. Keep up and read the book. Filling out course objectives isn't that helpful. But UNDERSTANDING old tests will get you an A.

Dr. D seems to be a great teacher on the first day of class, but his inability to explain concepts and his continual asking of questions that no one answers until finally he talks again unless you want to be the only one who is always answering the questions and moving class along makes the lectures about as incoherant as the sentence I just wrote.

Dr. D is very good at explaining the concept, but it is not easy to get an A. Read your book to do quizzes, his lectures are very helpful. Midterm and final are basically from the old exam. However, you need to put more efforts in the final. Do not skip any chapter, and use the course objectives as a guideline. Got an A in summer class. Good luck!

Not good. Does not go over material in a way that helps at all. You will have teach yourself everything and read the entire book multiple times in order to do well on the tests. Lectures are posted online but not in a portable format... and they're worthless anyway. Quiz questions are out of order and dont always follow lectures.

PROS: Grading scale is lenient. Posts lecture recordings online. CONS: One of the worst teachers I have ever witnessed. Doesn't explain things in near as much detail as is required in his quizzes and tests; YOU have to fill in the gaps. Exams are ridiculously hard. Often explains things wrong in-class and just reads off the slides.

Print off his practice exams and find the answers. The majority of them will be similar to or even the same as on his midterm and final. However, his exams are a bit tricky. He does go out of his way to help his students succeed. Quizzes can be taken as many times, giving students a 300 pt freebee. Took his class in the Fall 09 and got an A.

Pendergrass is a down to earth guy. You can tell he really relates to the students and isn't like most PhD professors you'll have. He's pretty hands off but he goes out of his way to basically give you an A. He practically puts the door at your feet. You just have to care enough to open it.

He's a great teacher. His tests are overtly hard for the sake of being able to apply physiology of the body to practical applicatins. The whole deal about the hard tests is that there are extremely low averages and the curve is huge. quizzes are 25% of your grade and you can take them over as many times as you want. Strongly recommend

Neurobio was a hard class, but Dr. D does a great job at explaining things in layman's terms. Online quizzes and tests. By far one of the most lenient professor I've had. Always willing to help you understand.
