Very difficult course, did not expect it to be so heavy on reading and lectures. I respect her a ton even though she was a super hard grader. She graduated from Yale so it makes her a little entitled but still a great teacher.

She is a great professor. She knows all the readings front to back and expects you to as well. Test are hard but if you do the readings and put in the time, you'll do fine. One of my favorite professors on campus!

I found Diane to often be unapproachable in class, not offer many helpful answers to questions (often telling you to refer to your notes, the book, or another classmate because she didn't want to inform you.) I got an A in the class, ironically, even though I was totally unengaged by the end of class because she just seemed unnecessarily tough.

I took this class the first semester of my Freshman year and it was my favorite class that was outside of my major. Dianne is really kind and approachable if you have questions, but her tests are really hard. You have to do the readings and you have to study. If you're not a studier or a reader then you won't survive this class.

Many may not like her but I thought she was a phenomenal educator deeply interested in providing an education worth our tuition. Tests are all essay question and she provides you a review sheet before hand to help guide your studying. You need to study beforehand, at least 3 hours after study guide made. She has high expectations for you.

Needed an elective and WAS going to minor in Soc but as soon as I took her class, I dropped it after two mos of hell and dropped my minor. Her tests are all essay questions based on theories. If you don't read the assigned readings you will have no idea what's going. She treats her class like high school students and is a very hard grader.

Great class. WAYYYY more work than you would expect for a 100 level class though, so be prepare for that. But the material is great and she's gonna push you to do well and if you don't push yourself, you're gonna get punk'd.

I decided to take this class as an elective, and it was the biggest mistake I have made thus far in my college career. Diane's classes are impossible to pay attention through, almost purely theoretical, and never fun in any way, shape, or form. For those considering her as a professor, be prepared to make her class you life.

She is great, but intense. She really knows her material and both textbook and lecture for tests, so make sure you go to class. She's a tough grader, but read the chapters to study before the tests and you'll be fine.

Diane is very demanding of your ability to comprehend the material. She makes sure that you are able to apply it across a broad spectrum of examples. Her tests absolutely suck to study for (I've had a minimum of 6 hours for each one) and her papers are very tough also-extremely theoretical!! However, it's worth the time and energy.
