Should have retired already. Out of any professor I have ever gone to for help he was the most difficult to approach. To me it seemed like he did not want to be there at all. He was also a bit condescending (I am sure he has seen it all, heard it all..). He invoked nothing from me.

i had Prof. Briggs for several classes over 20 years ago. In my opinion, he was the best and brightest in the department. If he's still teaching, take his class. He's a real standout. One of those few professors you remember whenever an important world event occurs because you wish he was there to help you ponder.

I had prof. Briggs in both undergrad and grad. He gave students a lot of room to figure our the realists and the postmodernists. in retrospect, his classes were some of the best i had. at the time it was hard, but it was new stuff. oldschool = goodschool.
