Comment:

Cantor is the worst teacher out there. I received the only A she has given on a paper. I wrote an 11 pg. true account of the Vietnam war from my father-in-law's experience. After I fixed all the grammatical errors, she failed me for not changing my story to reflect her opinion of the war. She does not allow your opinion in HER class. Run away!

Do NOT take Ellen Cantor's class. We needed to write from an inanimate objects perspective. The assignment was to be 4 pages long. I wrote 11. She told me my paper was the only A she has given on a first paper. After I fixed the grammar errors for the revision she failed me for not changing the plot of my story to fit her perspective.

Harsh, patronizing East Coast attitude. Saving us hicks from our intellectual swamp, I guess. She seems bitter, and like she assumes her students are asleep, intellectually; yeah - it felt like a re-education camp for the ignorant, SasquatchGoyim children of Oregon.

You have to actually learn writing skills in her class to get a good grade, but that's a good thing? Her lessons are really useful, and she's got a great way of helping students rethink their approach to writing. Plus, she is adorable.

Ellen was a very lively instructor who demonstrated great passion in our learning and the material in which she presents. the class is "difficult" but only because Ellen truly challenges her students to grow in there critical reading, thinking and writing. My skills greatly improved due to her teaching style. not an instructor for lazy students!

Ellen doesn't seem passionate about her writing classes at LCC. She waters down her lessons because she is too lazy to engage her students in a meaningful way. Would NOT recommend this class for anyone with above average writing/critical thinking abilities.

WR122 (spring 2012) started out with 24 seats and 5 people wanting in. The last class had 7-8 people and 19 registered (kind of telling). The emphasis was not so much on the mechanics of writing a paper-it was a bully pulpit for the teachers political leanings. I suggest you run, don't walk, run the other way before getting caught in this wreck.

Interesting teacher to say the least. I had her for 122. She is very unclear with her instructions. If you are willing to get past the crazy of her and are willing to actually WORK for your A you will be fine. Otherwise don't take her. not a teacher I recommend.

This by far is the most incomprehensible class Ive ever taken. I would not recommend it to anyone who wants to learn anything about college level writing. Her expectations are higher than an instructors should be for entry college.

She is pretty loopy, and expects papers to be written her way and does not appreciate individuality. We had to read Obamas book and pretty much base our paper solely on that, which was pretty irritating. If you are a decent writer you will get a decent grade. Just do what she wants, but dont expect to really "learn" anything.

Ellen Cantor is the worst teacher I have ever had. She expects students to have the same views and opinions as she does. A student that doesn't is disregarded and destined to fail. She is the ultimate suppressor of education. I wouldn't even suggest this class to my worst enemy.

I'm pretty sure that the only good comments about her, she must have posted. I dropped this class after the first day. One second she was smiling and talking to the class, and the next she was chewing some girl out, making her feel horrible, for asking a simple question. I would discourage anyone from taking this class.

Cantor was the worst professor I've ever had. The women in the class that she liked wrote terrible papers and were given praise and good grades while the men regardless of the paper quality were given poor grades. She told me I had the skills needed but gave me a D. Also the reading material was ridiculous.

Cantor made very mean and derogatory comments about students. THats my personal opinion but I found her to be very mean. Thats at least how she acted in class. But as a student, thats where it counts. I was literally shocked at her lack of professionalism and I found her class to be useless as well as worthless.

Ellen really is kindhearted... she is just very honest. Maybe her honesty can be ungentle at times... She was always friendly to me and I enjoyed learning what she wanted to teach. She is very beautiful.

I agree, Ellen acts like this is some 500 Masters level post-grad dissertation prep class. She is never satisified and is completely rude as well. Sometimes even somewhat insulting to other students in class. Postpone the arrival of grey hair and don't take a class with Cantor.

Mrs. cantor was by far the worst teacher i've ever had at Lane community college. she made me consider dropping out of LCC and attending a different school, she is mean and acts like a high-brow elitist, she loves to cut students down with rude remarks and hurtful glances. I'm not kidding either, shes not very nice at all or helpful as a teacher
