I came to college thinking I would minor in spanish, not I never want to take another spanish class again. Way too much work, expects way too much. It's 5 credit hours, but might as well be 8. I wish I hadn't taken this class, seriously. She doesn't teach anything in class, just yells at you and repeats the same thing.

I have studied several languages and had lots of teachers. She is ruining this for me. She is making things that could be easy so hard and confusing. I appreciate her dedication. thats all I appreciate. I love learning languages but i have not learned anything from her. She makes it so stressful that you cant learn anything. And class is agonizing.

She creates useful work for her students and challenges them to do more than just meaningless activities. I didn't think of her as intimidating. She was extremely supportive, even when I fumbled with my spanish words during presentations. If you want to learn a language, you have to make an effort, and Esme makes sure you do just that.

Always demanding and very high expectations but in the end, she teaches the Spanish language better than anyone I've met. Yes, the class is hard work, but after a semester, you WILL be able to converse is Spanish.

Learned a ton, and by the end I came to like her. It took a while to get there, however. She can be intimidating and sometimes the class feels like being beaten with a sack of oranges-if you stick with it, you will be rewarded, but no one will blame you if you don't.

People either love or hate Esmeralda. The only real problem with her class and her teaching is that she REALLY WANTS YOU TO KNOW SPANISH. She's demanding because that's the only way you'll actually learn the language. Sometimes I think she doesn't understand that people have other classes and obligations to attend to. However, I learned a ton!

I didn't think the class was difficult and I liked her enough. The work wasn't hard but tedious. I was really enthusiastic at the start of the semester, but she made it kind of boring for me at times. She isn't very flexible either.

Everyone complains, but at the end, I knew A LOT more Spanish than I did when I started. She doesn't have a lot of patience for students who don't make an effort or clearly don't care about the class, but I found her extremely approachable, friendly, and helpful outside of class.

unfair grader of tests and quizzes. a lot of times she even put verbs on the tests that we had never seen before, even after doing all of the homework, reading, and workbook assignments.

Well, sometimes it feels like you are learning spanish from a lunatic with a slight personality disorder. But the class really is not as bad as everyone thinks. It's a lot of work, but you only need to do it if you actually want to , you know, learn.

Yes, she's a difficult prof, but it's more than worth your time for how much you'll learn. And she has an excellent sense of humor and is a great person to chat with to practice your spanish outside of class.

This class had SO much work that was just tedious and monotonous. She gave no feedback on anything we did the entire class except exams, so no one really has any idea what grades they'll get. I suggest trying to place into a higher level class.
