I would definitely recommend students to take professor Hubbard. Her positive energy and great support for students make the class fairly easy. She's very understanding and will help students with any challenges they come across in class. Personally, I learned a lot from her especially in grammar as my writing skills improved.

Comment:

Great teacher, would recommend to anyone who really wants to learn analysis. I had a hard time understanding the behind meaning of books but she helped me improve this a lot. She will stay after class and help you in her office hours as much as you need. She will even write a whole paragraph on the board just as an example for you.

Ms. Hubbard is a very caring teacher I have ever had. She gives chances for students to revise our essays. It's a critical reading and writing class so of course, it's a lot of reading and writing. As long as you follow the rules and ask if you don't understand, this class is an easy one!

Mrs. Judy is very kind and is more than willing to help you in any of the essays/assignments that you have in the class and personally one of my favorite teachers at De Anza. As long as you follow what you need to do in class, you'll have no problem passing. Would definitely take her again! :)

I am an international student who has some problems with grammar. She explains carefully and I can see why I make mistakes and correct them. When you correct, you get full credit.

I don't understand the negative comments. I am taking her class now and she's great. She gives us all a chance to bring in drafts and gives comments on them. It's weird that people are giving negative reviews.

Comment:

Tough grader on essays she ask for certain pointless things. She doesn't even read your whole essay when she already wants you to rewrite the whole thing. Your not even done with one essay when she piles another one on you. Her essays are overall confusing in what she wants in them. She doesn't even use canvas so grading wise your lost.

She wants to develop her own methodology of Writing Essays. She prevented me from using transitional words as well as using specific grammatical structures which shouldn't be the case. She chose a very boring book where you can get an idea for what will be future, but you don't learn any new words.

Well although she is a tough grader, she did help me improve my writing and now, I feel so much confident in my writing and Im sure I can produce a much better work in the future. Shes nice too and shes kinda against technology like phones and all that. I thought she was kinda weird at first but yeah, shes nice.

If you read the book, keep up with the homework, and ask questions when needed, the class is easy. A lot of the quizzes are open book/note. You get to bring in a rough draft of your essay for feedback before its due.

Honestly she's the best writing teacher I ever had. The material in her class is really interesting because she likes to make it revenant to our present day world. Follow her instructions, and you'll be fine. She really cares about everyone equally and is always available outside of class. I'm going to take ENLGISH 1A with her.
