Dudden is pretty awesome. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the course material, and her lectures and assignments are very clear and interesting. I actually enjoyed coming to this class every day. Class is largely discussion-based, and she occassionally calls on people randomly, so do the reading. Overall, great class!

Comment:

Great class! Wasn't too interested in the topic but learned a lot and did not require too much extra effort. Lectures were engaging and papers were short. Loved the readings and really enjoyed the class. Dudden is very approachable and easy to talk to outside of class. Recommend this class even for non-history majors!

Absolutely loved Civil War with Dudden. You don't really have to do much of the reading; it's all in the lectures, papers are easy, exams are rather straightforward. She knows a lot about everything, stuff you won't get from a textbook, just an all-around great prof and delightful person

I got a lot out of Modernity with Dudden. She explains things incredibly well. Assigned papers were manageable and graded fairly. I'd absolutely recommend taking her class.

Professor Dudden is a really good professor. She really helps you understand the novels you read, and has an awesome personality.She isn't a very easy grader, but if you do the reading and take notes you will do well on her papers. I thouroughly enjoyed the class i took with her

Took this course worried it would be really difficult and competitive, but prof. Dudden and Kraly were great. She's really smart and curious about work outside her field and seems to care about her quality of teaching. Really nice, willing to chat with students about anything. Great course!

Dudden is a great lecturer, made modernity interesting. She provides rubrics with papers and is helpful outside of class. She's a fair grader and a nice lady, I really loved her civil war class. She gives a lot of reading but its interesting.

She is a liberal minded teacher who cannot accept other views without lowering the student's grade. Tenure has proven to be an awful concept for Colgate as it has formed a liverl community for academics. Faye Dudden should move on or learn to teach enw ideas rather than her regurgitated ideas.

Class was interesting - she's enthusiastic about material. Readings were mostly personal accounts - made things more real. Tough grader but she's willing to help you at any time. Help usually consists of a few hints - forces you to figure it out yourself but it makes you understand the material

Helps to keep up with the reading cause every class is mainly discussion, and she will call on you if you havent spoken in a while. Her paper assignments are not hard, but require thought. She gets really excited in class about the information, which gets you really excited also.

Not bad for American to 1877. IF you do all the reading you'll be fine in class. Participation is key. Tests really aren't hard if you study. She's not afraid to be tough on you if you don't work, but she's also very nice if you do put in effort.
