Nice guy and decent second writing/400 level class. One of the most boring and dry classes/professors Ive had. Sitting through the long lectures was torture and the material was boring and confusing. All lecture the entire time. Didn't learn one thing. Must be a good writer if you take this. 20 pg paper, 2 take home essay exams, 2 short analyses.

His class is SO boring. I could barely pay attention. But he's really nice and wants people to understand, so just ask and he'll clarify stuff for you. NO TESTS!!! Just 2 papers that count as the midterm and final, and a few news analysis papers. Take someone else if they're available, but if not, you'll be fine.

I am an engineering major and took this course because I needed to take a 300level elective. I liked this course a lot and it was interesting. Everything is take home so you would not have to study as hard. This course was interesting. Turkel is always willing to help as well as check your papers for you. All majors should take.

Crosslisted with CRJU 345. Attendance not taken but he knows who shows up and who doesn't. 2 take home exams, film review, and 2 article reviews. Lectures answer the test questions. Good guy who will help you out if you take the time to go to office hours

Prof. Turkel is boring. He has a funny sense of humor, can't help but to luv him. Lectures are pretty abstract and dry. There are lots of readings. Do the readings, take notes, ask questions and you'll be ok. This course requires effort. There are 2 take home essay exams, term paper, and news analyses.

He makes the class dry and it's fairly boring. Class lectures are important, test questions come from your notes...one in class two take home exams. Skim the reader for details for the essay. There is a lot of paper writing (take homes, 1 longer paper, 4 shorter), but it's NOT a hard class and the topics are common sense.

Such a boring class. I got really confused a lot and I think all of the theories are completely made up. He's a nice man, but when I went to him for help, and ask him how to approach questions on the upcoming test, he said "the questions are straightforward, just answer them."

I love Turkel. He can be boring at times, but he is such a cute little old man, and a relaly smart guy. Tests are usually take-home essay questions, so you usually don't have to do a lot of reading. Lots of current events, so you go off topic a lot. Fairly easy A for a 400 level class.

class was hard in my opinion. cj major, didnt take intro to sociology and took this so it can be confusing. 1 in class exam got a 50%. then 2 take home exams, and 2 projects. Ended up with a b so i guess its not too bad. Problem is that the whole semester is only 100 points so if you mess up 1 thing it ruins you.

Boring class, but not very difficult. Fair amount of outside work, but he wrote the book that you buy. If you miss a class, most stuff is in the book. Mainly an essay class, and most of our assignments were writing ones. He's hard to sit through, but he knows his stuff and is very nice if you approach him with question. I would reccomend it.

Class requires A LOT of work. We wrote about 10 papers in the semester, but the exams were take-home. Fairly easy & lectures straight from book.

I was Dr. T's TA for one semester during my senior year...very personable and friendly...he allowed me to find my own stride in teaching, but was great at giving me feedback when I needed it...take his classes!

Professor Turkel is amazing. He opened my eyes to a whole new world and sociological perspective. He is one of the most informed political enthusiasts I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. I am eternally grateful for my experiences in his amazing class, and he has a great tush.

He is the most boring man alive, but very nice and he honestly wants to help his students. Sometimes he's hard to get ahold of but he will make time if you really want his help. hardest part is staying awake.
