Avoid taking engr 301 with him even if you have to wait a year ! He is the most useless and boring prof. one can have. Concordia should let youth profs. teach this course. He is teaching this course since forever and thinks that we understand everything if he only reads the pp slides.

With out a doubt the most boring teacher i have ever taken a class with very very bad grader, about half the class got an F which he then bumped into a C me included the reading material is absolutely massive very bad at explaining things talks very very slowly , like 1 word per second slow if you care about your grades don't go with him

You're in a graduate level course. You are industry ready after your undergrad. But here you are, becoming an expert in your field of study. And you walk into INDU 6411 - Human Factors Engineering with Prof. Gouw. You should'nt be surprised. It is assumed that you know your basics, that you are qualified as an engineer to take this course. Tough.

Comment:

Only take prof if taking engr 301, otherwise avoid. Prof is really bad, just reads off his ppt, however you can avoid classes and only show up for midterm and final which are always repeated with the same exact questions (midterms and finals always the same as previous semesters). Make sure to have previous tests and the ppt slides and you're set.

The professor does not discuss the material contained in the assignments. He expects you to know and understand material he does not cover. Assignments are not very clear in wording and the grading is tough. Test questions are similar, expects you to know material he did not explain in class.

Comment:

In ALL core courses I have gotten A+, but in Human Factors Engineering, he gave me B+ even though I had studied for the course even more than core courses since I knew he is not a normal professor! I can assertively say he is NOT fair! I had done all assignments myself, I had submitted a project that is worth to be submitted in Scientific Journals!

A clear course and everything is clear just you need to get use to his approach to the problems because the way that he looks to the questions is different from the things that engineering students had before, If you follow his mind and satisfy his expectation you will be fine and be able to get A- or B+ but for this grades you need to work hard.

Comment:

One of the most terrible teachers that I had since primary school... he just want to decrease your grade to show that he knows better than you. I believe that nobody would learn anything from his class so don't waste your time for nothing. I almost answer all the final questions but I got B+ which should be at least A. NEVER EVER TAKE TRIBOLOGY!!!

I loved this teacher! Seriously you need to get use to his accent, but it's not that bad. His grading is not that bad, you can skip some classes without any problem, as long as you read the chapters asked.

His class is so boring and all he does in class is jus make the things more complicated and the best part ia his assignments is nowhere related to what he teaches in class.

Classes are extremely boring. Attended about 2-3 classes but still ended up doing well because the material is easy. He complicates things more than he needs to. The final is mostly based on the material after the midterm. Be sure to learn how to use the formulas, that way, you don't need a professor for this.

If you are looking for a class where you can slack off and not show up to class and still get a good grade, this is the teacher you should take. All you need to study for the finals are his powerpoints and you should be more than fine. Be sure to understand the material though, which doesn't really take much effort except for 2-3 powerpoints.

He makes simple concepts so complicated. His exams are multiple choice and his questions are very tricky.He is a nice guy, but classes way too boring... Make sure to do your homework and you will be ok. Preferably,take another teacher if you care about your marks.

The course is required by OIQ. He is a very nice teacher. His compound & profound knowledge, detailed explanation, smart solution to the problem and humorous give me deep impression. He made the course so easy. Listening to him carefully and read his notes before the Exam, everything is simply. he made the course so wonderful and so useful.

I took this class to become a member of the OIQ. Professor Gouw makes a great effort to teach the students something useful. He is very accessible for questions and comments. He has a sense of humor and humanity. Contrary to some here, I found the class very helpful and clear. If you make the exercises, you will have to difficulties.

Why does he have such a low rating? The class is a joke. Just read the notes, go over the assignments and its an easy A class.
