Awful! No help whatsoever with material. Confusing assignments. Never responded to student questions. Ridiculous amount of work with little to no guidance. If you love paying to be tortured, this is the class for you!

Comment:

Was not very helpful. You have to read the entire chapter before every class if you want to have any kind of decent grade. All he does is say what is on power point slides, which have nothing to do with the test. The pace he goes through the slides is too fast to copy down for notes anyways.

This class was extremely challenging. I don't recommend taking this class, the professor is not helpful and there is too much work to do in such a short amount of time. There is a chapter quiz every class and skimming the chapters won't do you any good, you really have to comprehend every sentence to get a passing grade. very demanding class.

Comment:

EXTREMELY DEMANDING CLASS. If you're dual enrolled I do not recommend this class. I was d.e. with a 4.4 GPA and this class drastically lowered my GPA. There is a quiz at every class meeting and halfway through the semester he expected us to have read the entire book already. Very unrealistic expectations in respect to test taking times as well.

I have never studied so hard and read a text book so thoroughly to have a professor pick a part every word I wrote to tell me it was bad and that I needed to "actually read the chapters". I read EVERY word of the book. Completely unrealistic expectations and time limits given on exams/quizzes. Very demeaning and rude. Don't take his class!!

Horrible, Wretched, Frustrated individual. Unrealistically timed quizzes and tests. GW consistently stated all the questions were from the text, but they were subjective to his political anarchist viewpoint. The experience I underwent in this course was unfortunate.

I have had many teachers in the past who some called "strict graders", and I never understood what they meant. However, now I know that Professor Swicord is the definition. Unless you are a politics major, and extremely passionate about your field, do not take this class! Especially if you have other classes, a job, a family, a life...

Hardest class ever.Studied hours daily and had study groups. We all were failing. F on every quiz/test. Its impossible to pass.The material was easy to understand but unless you have a photographic memory, good luck.If you have no life, and eat, sleep, and drink you book maybe this professor will pass you with a C.You've been warned.We all withdrew

This class has been extremely difficult, regardless of how hard I study. He is a very strict grader. I've never gotten below a B on an essay in my life..until I took his class. The things he expects out of students are impossible. He is a teacher who must assume that his students are taking his class only.

I TOOK POS 2041 THIS BECAME THE HARDEST CLASS I EVER HAD AND EVERYTHING I DID TO TRY TO HELP I FAILED. THE TEST IS VERY HARD AND QUIZES EVERYDAY IF YOU DONT READ AND DO AS YOU ASK YOU WILL FAIL!!!! i found the class fairly easy. I passed the class with a b without over exerting myself. You have to read a really long chapter every week, and a couple of times you have to read 2 very long chapters a week, also if you pay attention to the current news thats going on it really pertains to the class, and you will really learn alot about government.

This class was impossible. I had to read two chapters a week and watch an hour of new a day. I would spend my whole day reading for this class. From the moment i got home from school till 2 am. I would have failed my other classes if i did not drop this class. Tests are difficult and very specific. I had to withdraw

Swicord's class was a bear. Pol Nut but-Nice guy. I liked the teach= Knows his stuff- but HARD CLASS. Read the book (3hrs per chp.) High level-Pol. Science class. Picks apart essays. Test are very hard- Go to test review during off. hrs. wked hard=C.

Mr.Swicord must think he is the only class students take, he wants you to read every inch of the book and make sure you stay on track because there are tests every week. Don't take him unless you're a total politics buff

I've had a very difficult time doing well in his class. Although the class isn't impossible, it's very hard to keep up with if you're taking other classes. There's at least one textbook chapter you have to read every week before class starts and the tests are pretty difficult. I think the average for the first test was a D. Also very left winged.

Passionate about his course for sure. Reading is very important; he wants you to read the entire textbook by the middle of the semester. He also assigns writing a journal which includes 3-5 current news topics. As long as you stay on top of your work and READ, passing isn't hard.

Mr. Swicord is an awesome professor. All you have to do is fill out the essays and the study guide and you can easily get an A, recommend study groups to make everything easier if you have trouble. He explains everything you need.
