He laid out the requirements well ahead of time. Just follow them. Slow to get to know him but by 2nd year it's all good. Enjoyed Chem 200/201 labs with him. Great accent.

At first seems to be quite unapproachable, but hes actually a really helpful teacher and will help you out if you make any mistakes. people take his sense of humor the wrong way. Walk into the class with an open mind and take any constructive criticism he may give you. his jokes are subtle but kind of funny. overall i enjoy his labs.

The students were right. Do not take his class. Why is he allowed to be mean to students? This collegel needs to fire him a long time ago. He is not smart and very condenscending. Very rude.

I found Ian to be unapproachable at times, and was unreasonably frustrated with my unfamiliarity with the lab (it was the first day and I didn't know where a piece of equipment was kept). Overall, however, he is a good teacher, and his Scottish pronounciation of "clay triangle" made my day.

Absolutely despised him in 1st yr, absolutely loved him in 2nd. Didn't believe it was possible to like him, but stick with him, you'll be glad you did. So much freedom, and joking around in 2nd yr lab...he's actually a really cool guy to chat with (I know this might seem unbelievable). Expects a lot, but is fair (in 2nd yr, not so much in 1st:)).

This prof takes his job very seriously and I learned a LOT from him. If you are serious about succeeding, he is the person who is able to make u do it. It wasnt until i was in 2nd year that i realized this. A strict instructor but really quite excellent.

Very strick instructor. But if you do your work and prep, there shouldn't be problems. Just don't ask him stuff unless you absolutely have to.

Hard marker, good enough guy tho, and basically makes the experience foolproof with over-the-top-detailed instructions, tho i liked that mostly. seems cold at first, but eventually you get used to him, hes just strict, and has by far the best accent eva: remember "extremely poor laboratory practice"

I'm used to old codgers who wait for little pissant 1st yr students to earn their cookies, but he's still tough to get used to. I made him smile twice this semester so I think it gets better - I've heard good things from 2nd yr so I think you just have to work your way in. Common sense&pay attention

Just don't be an idiot around him. Don't sleep while he's talking, pay attention so you know what you're doing and he'll give you the good mark you deserve. He's fine.

He's a hardass for first year students because they have to learn how to read instructions. But for second year he's pretty delightful..I was afraid of him in first year, but he's not that bad. just speak english during the class, and don't talk about exp
