Comment:
Dr. Hirsh was an inspiration. The English language is a beautiful one, and English literature is gorgeous. He'll make you understand Shakespeare-- and appreciate the complexity. It was amazing. You have to read and participate, but we only had two papers, which is not unreasonable. Overall, highly recommended!

If I could, I would take him for every class. Before I took him, practically all professors had this weird twinkle in their eyes if I asked who I should take for Shakespeare. I get it now. They should put his picture in the dictionary next to "professor" or the like. He's like the Robin Williams in Dead Poet's Society of GSU, but better.

The guy is amazing. He reminds me of an odd professor you might see in a movie that all the students love. He loves Shakespeare and there wasn't one question anybody posted to him that he couldn't answer immediately. He made me appreciate Shakespeare and the art of literature so much more than I ever imagined. Take him if you can!

Professor was very engaging, intelligent and fair. Never looked at my watch. Grading was fair and based on 2 essays (3-7 pages), a final , class participation, and attendance.

Very enthusiastic. This philosophy major really appreciated his well supported arguments. Don't ask him what he thinks about Desdemona's dad and Othello unless you have LOTS of time!

I have never met a professor that loves what he teaches as much as this guy does. His enthusiasm about Shakespeare is contagious. He is very opinionated though. If you're going to disagree with him, you'd better have a solid argument, otherwise, he'll carve you up in a debate.

He is the ****est**** ever, but he recycles his lectures. He will grade your paper like a mean mofo, so make sure you actually read the****--he'll cut through your lies and your **** with his evil blue color pencil. That said, I made A's in all his classes, so I can also recommend giving a little extra effort to your in-class comments and he will appreciate it. He definitely has interesting points to make, makes a point of preferring analytical over descriptive questions. Read the damn plays, yo.

He is brillant. However, he many times has his own agenda. Once you as the student get past this he can be a great prof and mentor. I still call on him for advice.
