His online class doesn't have a syllabus, you have to use a special site to access your course and a LockDown browser for when you take the quizzes (there are about 40, no joke.) Quizzes are 2% of your grade, there are 5 assignments worth about 10%, but the Midterm and Final are worth 30% and are accumulative. At first he was hard to get a hold of.

Professor Martin is an awesome person, and definitely knows his stuff. Sadly, we kept getting sidetracked by the strangest topics and hardly dipped into any music. The course material is interesting, but we didn't learn much of it. I wish I had gotten more of this class. I can't complain though; his exams and assignments were incredibly easy.

Luved him!! very helpful if u ask for help. he has a weird sense of humor but it was a fun class. come to class, pay attention and do the homework and you sould do well. he can be somewhat scary if u make him mad, but just dnt ask stupid questions or walk out while he's talking, otherwise he's prty layed back

He is moody sometimes and it can be scary but overall he is a good teacher. He loves the subject and hates people who join the class expecting to slack off. Scholars expect 4 concert reports, 3 listening exams, and a 10 page research paper. He's not a hard grader and gives a lot of extra credit too.

Amazing. A Gift for teaching. Wise. Sharp. Knows exactly what to tell and how to tell it. Everybody loves him. No ****, but no negativity. Uplifting and encouraging without sounding like a camp counselor. He knows his stuff. And he's real cool.

Kinda easy class. grade based on 2 concert report 2 listening test and 2 writing exam (50 multiple choice). However, a dumb slacker who talk a lot during lecture can take writing test somewhere else, which unfair to other students.

Dr. Martin is a really sweet and funny guy. This class is extremely easy and interesting. You will learn a lot about the history of music. Just do the concert reports and listen to the CD's and read the book for the midterm. Offers TONS Of extra credit. This class attracts lots of dumb slackers though who cheat and talk during lecture. Amazing professor, has a sense of humor, keeps the class really interesting, has a vast knowledge of music history, helpful, and its really easy to get an A if you just do what he wants. I learned a lot of stuff from his class. But he is really old, GET his class while he is still ALIVE.

Comment:

He is so sweet and has a great sense of humor. Attendance is not mandatory, but all the material on exams (multiple choice) are covered in lectures. I never cracked open the text at all so burn the cds from a friend if you can. Too bad there were so many people in class that gave him a hard time by talking and cheating.

Dr. Martin is a good teacher. He is getting old so his speech is slow but then he picks right up when he sees that the class is tuning out. He does review before tests and quizzes. He gets the class to participate in class and he answers any questions you have in class really well.

Comment:

Dr. Martin is very sweet and funny. The class itself is a bit boring, so I skipped a lot. Listening exam is real easy since he plays the pieces we've all heard of at least once in our lifetime. The MCQs were hard. I don't know how I got a B... Just do the reports and get A's on the listening exams, then you will be fine :)
