Shes a very sweet and funny Prof., however do not get on her bad side. To stay off her bad side do the following... attend classes everyday and make sure you are always prepared to participate by reading and fully understanding the material. She is a great Prof. and her teaching style is pretty easy to understand, you just need to pay attention.

Her grading was clear if you read the stories and answered the questions you'll do good. Spelling counts. 3-4 essays. 3 pages.

Dr. Walsh is very informed about literature and writing. With that being said, she expects a lot. But in return, you can come to office hours, ask questions in class, and email her for feedback and any other question. Make sure to do the reading because it is crucial to the research paper as well as the pop quizzes. Don't use technology in class.

She is very nice & knowledgeable & appreciates class participation & discussion She is not an easy grader, but not difficult either. Put effort into your work and your grade will reflect that. Two papers and one final exam. Attendance is mandatory. no books. no electronics are allowed in her class. Isnt really as strict as she comes off.

I took ENG101 online over the summer. I was working 55 hour weeks while taking this and still managed. You need to put effort into your work, she isnt super clear with what she looks for in your writing, & you need to do the readings but its reasonable. I also missed an assignment and I emailed her and she was understanding due to my circumstances

Dr. Walsh is one of the spunkiest English professors I've had throughout my academic career, and is willing to help her students with everything. Make sure to be up to date with the syllabus and read all the material. Otherwise she is a fantastic teacher and makes class fun.

Very hard teacher, loves pop quizzes and attendance is hyper mandatory. WILL NOT allow usage of any electronic devices in class, which is a huge minus. Had to go through massive hoops with access and disability - incredibly demeaning, as I do not enjoy having to use my disability as a crutch. Also made people make nameplates, like kindergardeners.

Completed all assignments on time without spending large amount of time working on essays. Grade B. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of promptness responding to my questions.

Great course and instructor. You will get exposure to some old classics and wonderful challenge poems of modern times. She will teach you that poems are open to personal interpretation. The reading workload is very reasonable but must be done as she gives many pop quizzes and counts class participation. One presentation and one test the final.

I had her for lit of poetry. Very knowledgeable and you can tell right away that she's intelligent. Down to earth and in this class at least loves what she teaches. Because she a poet herself. A lot of reading so not a class or teacher for you if you hate reading. Just wish we talked about more recent poems. Other than that it shes great.

If your looking for an easy class, Dr. Walsh is not the way to go. Shes very challenging on her students and expects a lot from us. There were four pages, and a research paper. Lots of pop quizzes, but drops the lowest one at the end of the semester.

Teacher is very cool. She's really down to earth. Her classes are never boring. Answer/ ask questions because she loves that!! There is reading in her class and I hate reading but I was actually really into the reading that she chose. Highly recommend taking her class! You do need to purchase the books assigned! But no textbook is needed for this.

She's a little prissy and isn't all that easy going. As far as the class it was pretty easy. I didn't really even do all or even a majority of the readings but I still did well. There was 3 quizzes (10 questions each) and 3 papers (4 pages). The quizzes were super easy and she's a pretty lenient grader on the papers as long as you follow the topic.

Highly recommended. Dr Walsh is extremely knowledgeable and passionate regarding English literature and does an excellent job covering the major authors of the nineteenth century. Her lectures are informative class discussions of the material. She will broaden your skills of understanding difficult material. She is very fair re the workload.

She gives pop quizzes all the time so if you don't do the readings you will most likely fail. Also, when she lectures she likes to do a nervous laugh at the end of almost every single sentence which gets really annoying and makes even less motivated for the class.

Dr. Walsh is a phenomenal teacher with a wealth of knowledge about literature and writing. She is a hard but fair grader. Her class seemed more difficult than other classes but to me, that can only work to my benefit in the future. You get out what you put in. I would highly recommend Dr. Walsh to those who are willing to learn and work hard.

She's really engaging and her passion for the subject is very contagious. There were only 2 essays and 2 written exams and a handful of pop quizes. We mainly focused on Oliver Twist but we also read from the textbook at least once a week. I highly recommend her!

Frighteningly intelligent but either unwilling/unable to effectively convey her lessons in an inspiring manner. I now fear BritLit. Ridiculous amounts of reading which even she admits. Teaching style is subjective but grades objectively. I was confused for most of the semester. Don't take this course unless you have prior subject background.

Worst English teacher at Harper. Hardest garder, most boring, hardest grader just doesn't understand that we are not in elementary school and that we have lives outside of English class. I had straight A's at Harper until I failed this class and I still don't know why or how
