Comment:

Just reads straight out of the book during lectures. I didn't find him friendly or humorous at all - he honestly seemed to have a bad attitude when I took him. Sometimes when people ask him about HW questions he doesn't even know the answer. Got his law degree from McGeorge which tied for last place in US News & World Report's 2016 rankings.

Cool professor. Friendly and has a great sense of humor. Tests are tough though! Easy points for quizzes and homework. Unfortunately he is retiring this semester. Thanks for your dedicated time Professor Maxey! It's always nice to have a professor with real world experience and high academic achievements! He has a B.S. MBA CPA and JD! Smart fellow!

One word: Awesome. This guy is by far the relaxing teaching your going to take for any accounting course. Drops 1 lowest test, and curves will save you. We had 1 pop quiz and lots of HW. HW is freebies because he goes over with you. We had project but it was EC. Overall, he's a type of guy you want to be friends with. Nice, casual, and peaceful man

Professor Maxey wanted to leave Sacramento State, but they didnt have anyone to take his spot. SO he is here until spring 2016. His class was off because he didnt care. I did not learn anything from his class, I have to read the book just to get a better understanding of the class. Gives answers to quizzes and hw. FOrm a group, his tests are hard.

Comment:

Maxey is the funniest accounting professor I have ever taken. It's nice that he has a sense of humor. Tests are not easy and you must study your butt off. He can be unclear and procrastinate, so it's your job to stay on track. However, we complete homework and quizzes together as a class which is awesome. Overall he is a pretty good professor.

The class is pretty straight forward. He does the Homework in class then you turn it in online. 4 exams-takes the 3 highest. Pop quizzes but he gives you the answers as long as you come to class. They're 5 points and you get 2 points for writing your name.... Gives out Study Guides which help a lot. Great teacher, no nonsense. I would take again.

I took his class this semester. He truly is a funny guy. He go over the practice exam EVERY TIME before taking each exam. Be ready for pop quiz. But NO WORRIES, he sometimes gives out the answer for the quiz that worth 5 points. Highly recommended taking him! However, he told us he won't be here long. Feeling sad that he is leaving.

Maxey is a Man-of-the-People. He is very down to earth and has some great real world stories about accounting and fighting the IRS. Old school lectures with no power points, but he makes the material easy and interesting, something nearly impossible for cost accounting. Called him at his law firm for some questions about class, no problem.

Must read the book! No lecture slides! Hard to follow if you don't understand the material. All Exams rely heavily on the book.Exams arer half multiple choice and half short problems you work out on your own & need to show work. Sometimes essay questions may be on the exams.Don't really know your grade unless you calculate everything on your own.

the exams are very difficult- so if you dont UNDERSTAND the material you are doomed. also, he doesnt have any lecture slides.. just goes by the book. he had sunday review sessions for each exam which helped. hw and quizzes are easy points and he admits it. this class is harder than it should be, esp for someone with no interest in accounting.

This teacher is phenomenal! He is hilarious and such a catch! He lectures right out of the book and as long as you attend class you'll do great. He goes over the homework and the quizzes in class! It would be hard not to do well in this class.

Lectures were based on the textbook. Had to bring textbook to class every time. He does/goes over HW in class then has us submit it online. He has study sessions before tests, mostly outside of class time. They are helpful so try to go if he has them. Test was fairly okay. Class was pretty easy, passed with an A.

Good teacher, kept me interested. Very knowledgeable about the subject, has his own law office. Lectures without any notes. Curves grades, best out of 3 exams. 5 quizzes. Read the book and it's an easy A.

Don't be fooled by the mention of the take-home exam...it was only because he did the syllabus wrong and scheduled the exam to be in class over spring break! Lectures come straight out of the book, so be sure to bring it to class. Slow to respond to emails, and makes little (if any) use of technology. "Homework" and "quizzes" are done as a class.

Congratulations! you're reading this, which only means he's teaching a class this semester. Would you like an easy A? This is your class. Tests are average difficulty but one test was take-home, the others were curved and you could bring 2 full sheets(4 pages) of notes per chapter tested along with you. Let that sink in. Awesome class! Just take it! Dr.Maxey is a wonderful professor, and does a great job explaining the class material. 4 exams, lowest exam is dropped. 10 unannounced quizzes, and weekly HW assignments after each chapter. For the quizzes, he gives you all the answers, so it's basically like attendance points & he goes over all the HW in class.

He is a very nice guy and answers any questions students have, but he lectures right out of the book, and visuals don't go beyond writing JEs on the board. He also tends to go fast and tests are hard. Difficult class for a visual learner.

4 exams, a few quizzes, and homework. Homework and quizzes are practically free points. He's VERY knowledgable and brings a lot of real world experience to the table. He's a CPA and practicing business lawyer. Pretty lenient on grading and explains things well. It's a hard class, but it's doable if you make good notes and put the time in.

Amazing! If you have to take this class, def take him. You learn a lot and you can easily get a good grade. He assigns homework but he takes time to go over all of it in class and then you have to turn in it for next class. he does review sessions the night before exams and he gives out sample questions that are 80% similar to the real exam.

This guy's awesome. Funny, laid back, and goes over the whole homework assignment in class. Also very helpful if questions arise. Allows 4 pages of notes for the 4 tests and drops the lowest score! Maxey is basically the business lol. Take him!
