Comment:
John Petersen really likes the community engagement projects. I took his 101 class and this 354 class is a glorified version of it. You will work with other students on a community project, and fill out his proposal, final report, and self-reflection. He's a good professor, but expects a lot and is much of the time unclear on those expectations.

This class was one of the worst I ever took. It was boring and obvious. His idea of making people take groups tests is HORRIBLE.

The class was too unfocused, but it covered a lot and was very interesting. Great assignments. Petersen's a good teacher.

Mr. Petersen is extremely knowledgable and passionate about the material. I am glad that I picked his 101 class. I find his lectures fascinating. He is also a clearly nice guy but sometimes his intensity makes me a little uncomfortable.

Petersen is really enthusiastic about what he's teaching... though he might not be in his office often, he's very approachable by e-mail or after class. I think he's one of the better professors I've had. He does assign a lot of reading though, and it's all stuff you have to read, so be prepared.

Great class, learned a lot, pretty intense. Prof was one of the best I've had: knowledgeable, organized, approachable, and open to suggestions/feedback.

He is a very passionate teacher who is really invested in the subject matter and believes a lot in the students. This becomes a problem, however, when he believes students can do a huge amount of work. He is also really busy and not always to meet.
