well, he's a great teacher teaching a boring subject. the first half was ok once you get the key to solve such kind of problems, but i couldn't help sleeping in the last 1/3 of the lectures. in addition he repeats important points while giving new material, you don't know when to "have a rest"

his lectures make Ben Stein seem outgoing. Do not take this class unless it's a requirement or you absolutely love logic.

He does not approach the material well at all. He acts as if we are all logicians. The class has potential but he doesn't let it be a good class. It's impossible to understand anything.

The first two units are cake but the third is a killer. Brown definitely gets harder and faster paced as the material gets harder, this isnt a good thing, I'd skip out on PHI 251 if I could

Since this is about the professor, not the class, the professor is great, but the class itself blows. Prof. Brown knows his stuff and is one hilarious character, best goatee on campus easy.

Wow. Covers a LOT of material in class that is not on the exams - not sure if this is a good thing or not. Would have prefered more class time on subjects that were actually being tested, although the whirlwind tour through logic was interesting! Course needs more homework!!!

Excellent teacher. Very intense logic course. Goes kind of fast and covers a ton of material. Will keep you hopping just trying to keep up. Do the exercises in the textbook as well as the homework and you will do fine. Practice is the key to logic - you've just got to do LOTS of it.

Doc Brown is a gifted logician with a knack for making a dry subject like Modal logic, well, humorous (in a dry sort of way). He also has the best hair and beard of any professor at SU, hands-down. I can't say enough good things about this dude.
