Karen is by far one of the best lab instructors at CBU! She makes sure everyone understands the material and is always available to help you if you don't understand something. She's also funny and keeps the lab entertaining which is a plus. She may seem intimidating at first but once you get to know her you'll realize she's not.

Loved Karen! She may be intimidating at first but thats just her sense of humour. Her and I really had some chemistry between us, she was like a mother to me.. one who would continually laugh at my jokes and wise remarks. Aside from that she's super helpful and would definitely recommend.

Karen is an amazing lab instructor once you get to know her. Yes, she seems intimidating and almost rude at first, but that's just her sense of humor. She is great to go for if you need clarification on anything in the course. Make sure you study for the lab quizzes though, because they can be fairly difficult

Comment:

I dont understand how anybody could like her or this lab. She has yelled at me several times which is completely uncalled for. Full of sarcasm, and not in a good way. Makes students stressed out in a hard enough course. The quizzes ranged from quite easy to hard. I dont recommend her, although you have no choice untill she's gone. Beware!

Karen initially seems angry, hard, and irritated with her students... if this impression sticks you'll hate the lab. On the other hand if you get over it she's likable, helpful and often fun to have in lab. She clarified many things from lecture and is great for helping when you "really" want to know something. One of my favorite Lab instructors.

Sarcastic to a fault, and you will get the impression that she thinks you should know the answers to some of the questions you ask. Quiz difficult ranges from somewhat easy to very challenging. In the end, she gets the job done though and will be accommodating, if a bit reluctantly.

Ok, yes, she seems cold and heartless and her primary method of communication is cruel merciless dripping sarcasm and she treats your questions like you're completely wasting her time... BUT if you can somehow get past all that, she is funny & likeable. And she will helpfully explain things to you ...if you can withstand the withering glares.

I could be wrong but....irreverence is a terrible thing. It leads to wars, it contributes to anarchy or, at the very least, economic inefficiencies. Ms. Foss has got to learn to place herself in the position of the "tabula rasa" student. WE ARE "STUDENTS" FOR A REASON. We don't know much...so teach us! AND please wipe the scowl off your face.

first term I was scared of her.. she was not very nice..I wonder if she was weeding out the weak? But she totally changed in biochem (2nd sem.): was actually laughing and joking with the class. I've truly grown to like her. You do learn stuff in her classes.

I think her brain came into contact w/ HSO4.This woman is beyond all hope. A mean-spirited, unhelpful, and condescending lab instructor. She's the antithesis of Sneddon,the amazing professor who teaches org chem. It's a pleasure attending his classes,but a nightmare going to Fussy Foss's laboratory.
