I thought his lectures were soooo boring BUT he's well organized, knowledgeable and approachable. You can tell he's passionate and I must admit even though I couldn't stay awake during lecture I learned a lot studying for his tests.

Overall, the class was easy and straight forward. Professor Taube is one of the good professors at UCR. His exams have no surprises and his lecture style is easy to understand. I would take another class with him. There were three midterms (not hard just go to lecture) and one final exam. I enjoyed taking this class!

Comment:

Very informative and interesting course. Hes very kind and easy to talk to. The book was not necessary because he explains everything. Be sure to attend class or get someone's notes because everything on the exam comes straight from his mouth. Highly recommend.

Loved the course bc he knows his material, very clear and flexible with where lecture goes. Informative and interesting. Show up and take notes to pass, books are optional bc of all the info he gives out. (: He doesnt grade harshly either on the exams. No hw, optional essay for EC. Very nice and has cool artifacts in his office. Would take again

Somewhat interesting professor. His lectures didn't seem to help much, since he only showed pictures on slides. What he would discuss would be difficult to take notes on. He did provide lecture handouts, but they were poorly crafted and lacked vital information.

By far the best professor to take. Especially if you really like archeology, he knows his stuff. His exams aren't cumulative and as long as you go to class and take notes, that is what is basically on the exams.

Very good prof. Explain everything clearly. Give out handout every time, the test come from the handouts. Study the handout then is easy class. Get a perfect grade from him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Lectures can become very boring, he does skip around a lot. However, he is very enthusiastic in his lectures, very much knows what he is talking about and is very friendly! Questions are never a problem with him, he is always there to answer! Hand outs do a good job of what to go by for the test but you MUST take notes to really ace the test!

Well, i knew art history is the worst subject you can learn in college, and Dr. Taube just proved it. I am sorry for all of you anthro majors who wrote all those positive reviews. His lecture is extremely boring and half of classes do not show up.

i can't say he's in all honesty a good teacher. i think he'd rather be doing field work than teaching. he does answer question that are on the study guide directly and if you take good notes on that day you'll get an A.

Karl is a great teacher, and he made each subject interesting. I took his classes a number of years ago, and looking back, his classes were my favorites. I can't believe a paper is optional now, lol. Must be taking it easy on the students, which I think is mistake. Very knowledgeable, brilliant really.
