Comment:

Kevin is a top notch guy and cares about his students 100%. The weekly work is done with an online program so if you stay on top of that, you have a good understanding of what is being taught in class. Quizzes and exams are usually the same types of questions you have already seen in the homework, so you know what to expect. Great professor!

Comment:

I messed up the first exam, which was my fault. However, the way the exams are set up if you mess up on just one exam it can really hurt your grade. The weekly work is manageable, but it's not worth much. Overall, two exam were worth 20% each the final is worth 30% and the weekly work is worth 30%. That puts you at a disadvantage if you mess up.

I enjoyed learning the material, however, I felt that Kevin expected you to master it after the introductory lecture. The problem I had with Kevin's class was the weight of exams and the time allotted to take them. There is more than one way to solve trigonometry problems, and he expects you to always know the fastest during exams. Overall GreatGuy

Beware the high score he has on this site as a lot of his high scores are for lower level math classes. His higher level classes are rated much lower. The last exam we took 17 people failed, 5 people got C's, and there were 2 A's. He has office hours, but they're short and he's always in a hurry. The hmwk is mandatory if you want to pass.

Kevin is great. You can tell he has a passion for teaching that few professors can top. The door is always open, and outside of class he has a genuine interest in how you are progressing at school. OMG his jokes are sooo bad, but they're so bad they're "good".Just stay on top of the homework! A good 3 hours a week and you're done.

Kevin Hastings is a great guy who takes the opportunity to teach seriously he cares about everyone in the class. He is very helpful. Any time you have a question his door is always open. I have enjoyed taking his class and I look forward to taking more of his classes in the future. I strongly recommend taking his courses.

Hands down the best math professor I have ever had, he will help you as long as you put in the effort to get it, fair grader, you will get the grade that you work for, highly recommend taking him. Positive attitude and enthusiastic about his job, homework is not graded but crucial for passing. Beware of corny jokes daily :)

I took Kevin's class four years ago, and I was still taking math a year ago. Kevin helped me through all my classes even when I didn't have him as a teacher. He is the most sincere teacher you will ever have and he truly cares about his students success. If I ever had to take a math class again, I would hope for Kevin Hastings as my teacher.

As a teacher he is not a bad guy, but his grading policy is bull. He says that you cannot earn a grade in the class that is more than 10% higher than your average on the final exam. And my final had questions relating to a class I had already passed last semester so I was screwed there.

Kevin is a great teacher and is very helpful. Yes, his tests are hard but as long as you study you should be fine. More than likely the test problems are right from the recommended problems homework so I recommend doing the homework even though it is for not a grade!

Kevin is very enthusiastic about teaching math. The man knows his stuff, and dedicates a lot of time during office hours helping students understand the material. Doing the recommended problems and actually studying the notes is absolutely necessary for success. Also, he tells really cheesy jokes. They get annoying, but you'll learn to ignore them.

Kevin is always there for you when you need him. If you struggle in math, and need to take classes to get credit, he is perfect for you. If you ever need help, he will work his schedule for you to get help. All around a great guy and great teacher.
