If you make this guy's day stressful, then don't expect an effective learning experience. Listen to what he says, write your questions down for later and make sure to participate. The material he teaches is so broad that one irrelevant question could throw an entire day's class off. This guy knows his stuff, pick his brain, but not during class.

Best Instructor at SCC -- can make the most difficult material seem like common sense. Like previous post, I don't understand why he gets negative ratings unless its from students who don't want to learn. Kirk is stern and matter of fact, but he cares about students learning.

Awesome Linux class. Stephens is a guru. He took a hard subject and organized it into understandable modules. If you get the chance, definitely take his classes.

So I am not the only one that thinks this teacher is awful. I have never encountered a teacher as unfair and rude. I begged for help and he refused. I thought this was what being a teacher was about.I would have loved to finished my degree at SCC but he is the only one teaching the classes I need so I will never get that degree. Here's the TRUTH!!: In a class that's suppose to be 2 hours, he "lectures" for 10 minutes, gives students a ton of assignments to complete in class, then RETREATS TO HIS OFFICE!!! A waste of time and without doubt, the SLICKEST SLICKSTER here @ SCC

Kirk is by far the best teacher at SCC in my personal opinion. I attend through CVCC and I've taken a few of his classes and even talked to him outside of class and he's a really great guy. Super smart dealing with anything computer based and teaches the material with excellence. I'm taking his class again in the spring and can't wait!

Kirk, is "the greatest" teacher of all time @ SCC.Makes classes interesting, encourages students to always learn.Has great communication between his students. He's 1 of the few instructors I am able to talk to. He cares, & knows his material ver
