I was a former student at another college before arriving at Central Washington. I have studied under professors that care and are good at giving information. This is not one of those professors. Goes off tangent quite a bit and as someone who hasn't taken much economics before this I am lost all the time. Would most definitely not recommend.

Wonderful teacher! He makes material relevant even when studying past events. Very entertaining and easy to connect with. The material was hard, but he was so understanding and easy to reach out to.

He goes on long rants that are only partially related to the text and assigns reading that's unrelated to the tests. I'd often ignore his long rants about middle eastern cotton farming and just focus on the book in class, because very little that he talks about is related to what you're tested on.

This is one of the best professor's I have ever had at Central. He can get off topic sometimes but it always has to do with the lecture. He is constantly applying it to the real world. Get the book to study for the 3 tests. Second one it the hardest. Make sure to read all the required handouts for the papers but no need to read anything else.

He's very passionate about economics and that really translates into his teaching. He's very knowledgeable and wants his students to actually get something from his class. Your grade: 2 quizzes, a midterm and a take-home final. Although it takes a lot of time to study for the tests & quizzes he was definitely one of my favorite professors. Great 1!

Going into this class having no knowledge about economics in general, then you probably don't want this professor. He compares ECON102 to his 300 level class every day. Not the greatest at giving lectures. He gets off tasks and relates everything to his own life to the point you have no idea what he is saying.

The class is easy, but the prof loves going off on tangents. We watched videos that weren't relevant. Tests were easy, but the lectures were incredibly boring.

Is intelligent but makes economics a lot harder than it really is. Runs through formula after formula, with a doing a good job of explaining the concepts behind formulas. He doesn't help ground the concepts with examples. Tells you to read and rushes through examples.

Keeps up to date with whats going on in the world and how it relates to the class. He can go off on a few tangents and not come back for a while. The class gives lots of supplemental information you can use if youre interested and want to learn more. Also he drops your lowest grade making it easier to get a better overall grade.

I was surprised by the comments that people thought class was quite hard. He does go on a few tangents but sometimes they are worthwhile. Class is not that difficult if you read the book and have some interest in economics, was actually about the same or maybe easier work load than most classes. Think essays/MC choice mix on tests was fair.

The reviews on here scared me prior to taking the class, but it turned out not bad. Ghosh is extremely intelligent and passionate about econ. Quizzes are pretty much right from the book. Exams have essays, but he gives you the topics beforehand. The nice thing is you can drop the lowest exam score and use your quiz average, so final is optional.

Worst professor I have ever had. He teaches his 100 level class like a 400 level class, calls students out, and is constantly rambling on about his personal life. He made it very clear that teaching is not a priority for him and neither are his students or his questions. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone.

Test and quizzes are extremely hard and most of material isn't covered in lecture so you are always reading the book. Very unorganized and doesn't help you when you have questions. Makes you feel stupid and doesn't care if you know what you are doing or not. I wouldn't recommend this class.

Worst professor ever. Exams and quizzes are so hard and the schedule is "tentative" so he'll change it at the last minute and use that as an excuse. He rambles and is confusing. This class is awful because of him.

He goes on tangents and rants about unrelated things. I sit there not knowing what is benefiting my learning of econ or if it is completely off topic. Quizzes and exams are very hard. Freshman, don't take this class. He makes this 100 level class very difficult, and he gives off the impression that this is the only class you should care about.

Lectures often cover current economic issues. Great professor but don't expect him to "chew" down material for you, it is your job as a student! Expect to put in daily work: reading, drawing graphs and sometimes researching = you will be rewarded with good grade and knowledge :)

The class was very interesting, but difficult. Attendance is near mandatory as 25% of your grade will be essay questions based on lectures. The lectures are confusing at times, and exam content is not straight forward, but Ghosh keeps class interesting and based on real world events. I was about to graduate with a 4.0, but not anymore :(
