Comment:
This is the easiest class ever! You NEVER have to show up for class. Easy A! You have an exam every two weeks (7 total + optional final). The exam questions come straight from the book (20-25 questions). All the exams are on Quizlet.... so dont buy the book unless you have extra $ to spare. Lectures are super boring, I did other class homework.

Took the 8:00 Tuesday/Thursday class. Theriot's teaching style is accurately described over the rest of the comments I've read. I actually used RMP to find him, but I wish I hadn't chosen him in the first place. He flirted with me when I went to turn in an essay during his office hours, which was the last straw in my final decision to drop.

Comment:
Theriot tripped through lectures and at the end of class read off answers from the test. He would heckle students and tell inappropriate stories. The tests make up the entire grade and are all directly from the review questions in the book (the ones throughout the chapter, not at the end). It was an easy A, but I didn't learn anything.

You do not really have to go to class. Just know when test days are and do/study the corresponding self-assessment questions for that chapter(s). The final is optional. Only made a B because I flubbed up on one of the tests and missed a set of assessment questions. It's an easy A class for non-majors.

If you're a non chemistry major and want an easy university core course, look no further. Show up to first day of class, get the book and memorize self assessment questions, then just showup for test they are exactly the same as the self assessments. And he gives out extra credit on some tests!

If you're a non-major this class is for you. Doesn't teach anything, all tests literally come out of the self assessment questions in the textbook, you just have to memorize. Never attended class, just show up for test day and you'll be fine.

Professor is unprofessional and not very helpful. He's old so it's hard to hear him in class and no one respects him in class. Memorize the textbook questions if you want to pass.

If you want an easy class and your memorization skills are good, this is the class for you. He doesn't teach much chemistry, and the exam questions come straight from the examples in the textbook. I just made flash cards for the examples, which he tells you a list of example problems he'll choose from for the test. He's a sweet guy though.

This class is kind of a joke. Attendance isn't mandatory so you only need to show up on test days (there are 9 and a optional final). That being said, Theriot is a funny and interesting person. Don't take this class if you actually expect to learn chemistry, but if an easy A is what you want, take it.

He does not take attendance, sI yout omy hAve tone show upost onot ecam days. You NEED the textbook because his exams consist of nothing but the self assessment questions from said book. If you study self assessment questions, you should have no trouble making an "A." The final is optional.

He doesn't actually teach chemistry. He just pretends that he does, then you show up to class and hear a lecture about things that don't even pertain to chemistry. If you don't keep up with the chapters on your own time, good luck passing.

He is a decent teacher, kind of weird honestly. All did is ask if words were Cajun or Latin, he tries to have a sense of humor. There aren't any grades except like six tests and a final. I really only went to test days and was able to teach myself. All test questions seemed to come right out of the book.

He has 6 tests and a Final, the 6 tests are taken directly from the sample problems in the book with sometimes slight number changes. Pay attention to sample problems he emphasizes on, they will most likely be on the test. The tests are every 2 weeks. He doesn't rly teach but he will answer any questions you may have. The final is opt. & cnt hurt

if you actually want to learn chem don't take him!! you're literally on your own when it comes to learning because he doesn't cover 90% of the test. The tests are the sample problems from the book so if you read and study all of the concepts there's no reason you shouldn't do good. Will fail without the book.

DON'T TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO LEARN ANYTHINGGGGG he hardly lectures, lets class out early, briefly discusses topics. The book can be a little difficult to understand on your own if you haven't had chemistry in a while, and his class requires a lot of reading. Tests can* be easy if you understand sample problems. Take Dr. Petros if you can!

Wow, Dr. Theriot is still teaching? I took his "Consumer Chemistry" class back in 1982. He was one of my favorite teachers. Ok, I didn't learn a lot (I was a business major). But he was very clear, his tests were straight out of the book & lectures, and if you just showed up, you'd get an A. Nice guy - very funny. Glad to see he's doing well.

You're given 6 tests throughout the semester over selected chapters in book. You're told what the questions will be for all the tests the first day of class. You only have to show up to class if you want- no attendance taken. Final is optional- only necessary to boost overall grade. INCREDIBLY nice and cracks jokes left and right throughout lecture

Don't take this class if you're a chemistry major or want to learn anything. Test every two weeks, questions and answers are STRAIGHT out of the book. Don't bother showing up... He doesn't half the time, and when he does, he just talks about his high school wrestling career. EASY RIDICULOUS A. You need the book!!!!
