If I were given the chance to take a class with Laurie again, I wouldn't hesitate. Laurie cares for her students and is accessible outside of class. I wasn't very excited about ANTH prior to taking the course but she made it very interesting. Her lectures are engaging and animated which was nice. Make sure to study your notes and textbook!

She was amazing last semester. So much so that i got my first college A with her, which I believe was influenced partly by class participation. She always has something for us to do but none of it is difficult, careful with papers. You may get a good grade even if you didnt try too hard but read the comments she makes itll improve your mark itf

I was kinda lazy but... - Lecture slides were mostly from the textbook, read it to get ahead - Genuinely passionate about her work and it shows very well - Papers weren't that hard, did them last minute got C's - 2 Tests & 1 Final - Final is based on material after test 2 - I lost my text book in the classroom once she found it when I didn't

Beckwith is very funny. Her lectures can be boring, but her personality sparks them up a bit. She was easy to talk to and clear about what she was expecting for assignments. I used my textbook like twice in the class - not worth the $170.

Laurie's classes are challenging and fun! Her classes are lecture heavy but she is very passionate and shares great personal anecdotes to go along with them. Her tests use her lectures, the textbook and any assigned readings. She is a hard-marker on writing assignments but she leaves good feedback for those wanting to improve.

Laurie gives straightforward, engaging lectures. Her tests come from what was learned in class - no surprises. I gradually came to enjoy Lauries goofy humour; it is endearing. She made anthropology very interesting. Put the work in, spend time with papers, and youll do well.

Laurie is very knowledgeable, open and cares a TON about her students&what she teaches. Gives GREAT feedback on your term paper and proposal (part of your paper marks comes from how you use her feedback which is easy marks!) Read the textbook and attend lectures - she doesn't post slides online so take notes! Uses easy hw for participation marks

Amazing prof!! She is really passionate about her stuff and she really knows what she is talking about. The lectures were long because the class was once a week, and she talked super fast so it was hard to get everything she said. Other than that she was a fun teacher to listen to in the lectures!

Average amount of homework for second year class. One research proposal w bibliography, one essay paper and one poster (you get donuts on the poster day). Read your text book to pass the exams. Laurie is very fun, and she is there for help whenever you need it. If you're interested in archaeology experience, she will help you find it.

A fascinating course if you're interested in Archaeology (Which is not Dinosaurs so don't confuse it as such.) A very clear teacher with interesting lectures. I got a B without using the textbook much, but if you want an A you MUST read the textbook. A hard marker, especially with your 5 page essay. Make sure your writing is clear and concise.

So nice! She is very good at explaining the material, and if you dont understand and ask a question, she will glady help. She makes the material fun to learn and uses enthusiasm to keep you interested. I loved this course and teacher! As long as you attend class and take good notes, you should be able to get an A. Take it with her!

Amazing teacher. Amazing. She was by far my favourite. I wasn't that excited about archaeology, and it looks dull at first, but we ended up having an awesome time. Don't have any worries about going to a class where she's your prof..as long as you show respect (no cells in class), come to class, and do the work, you'll get a good grade.

Take Laurie. She is incredible. She keeps things hilarious by joking around, smiling, laughing, and just discussing funny topics. She'll show cartoons in class, videos, and will help you immensely if you ask questions. She is also very clear on what she expects. She isn't an *easy* marker, but I got an A in her class just by doing everything.

Very clear and interesting in lectures, take notes, hates when people are on cellphones or talking. Very helpful if you dont understand sthg, though she has a knack for explaining everything clearly. People who take her course and are not into Arch still love her class, one of the harder markers at douglas, but very fair. Sneaks text q's into final

Laurie is a great teacher. She is very animated during her lectures (which you NEED to attend if you wish to pass the midterm) and always answers questions well. The textbook material is fairly simple, but sadly very boring. Some memorization and you MUST understand the concepts she goes over. Always very fun and approachable!
