I took this course in 1990 at Buff State. That was 25 years ago. All these years later, Dr. Fish and her course stand out in my mind. She left such an impression on me. Pay attention during her lectures, she is fascinating. Do the work- you will be amazed at what you discover. Hope she finds this and knows she made a difference! Highly recommend!

THE COURSE DESCRIPTION MISLEADS YOU. DO NOT WALK IN THINKING YOU WILL LEARN OF URBAN LEGENDS OR ANYTHING COOL LIKE THAT. THE FIRST HALF OF COURSE IS ABOUT THE MILITARY, HAVE TO LEARN PLANES NAMES AND SONGS. SHE GIVES ASSIGNMENTS BUT VERY VAGUE AS TO WHAT YOU R SUPPOSED TO DO. NOT EASY TO TALK TO. SEMESTER ALMOST OVER I STILL AM LOST. AVOID COURSE!

Of all professor's I have taken courses from at Buffalo State, Professor Fish has been the worst. Full of excuses, and unclear of expectations. Does not provide feedback on writing assignments, yet paradoxically claims that students never learn to write. The class has a subsistance level of functionality because students take pity on the woman.

Great Professor!!! Interesting material that can only come from a person with as much life experience and knowledge as her. You WILL learn a lot!!! But, it will all be fascinating material. Don't be lazy about your homework. Just do it, and you will pass. Awesome job Proffesor Fish!! Keep up the good work!!!!

She expects students to do loads of work after popping in movies and being 20 minutes late every class. But she takes no time to put in any work as a professor, is not helpful when you are asking questions, makes students feel incompetent, and very rude.she may be intelligent but she is unfit for teaching students.

OKAY READ THIS! This woman is a smart cookie, she may not come off as friendly but!! she is a sweetheart.. Take my advice. Be respectful, don't give excuses, the work isn't hard just manage your time. Listen to the directions and don't ask questions that she already explained or in syllabus. Shes one of a kind, she will grow on u!

I was very excited to take this class. It isnt an elective it isn't even needed for me. I took it for enjoyment and have gotten none. It's not the work load that's offensive. I don mind papers and reading. She doesn't teach. Just shows movies. Does not help when asked for it. Doesn't teach. Always late . Rude. Full of excuses. Doesnt grade all wrk

Awful, out of touch, & full of excuses. Annoyed by questions, rude to students. Did not receive syllabus until week 6, even then it was a schedule not a syllabus. Unclear on expectations. Movies or guest lecturers every class. Seems knowledgable on folklore, but a miserable teacher. Grades email communication for grammer. AVOID HER.

This is not the class for everyone but once you get past the CD paper its not so bad. Yes it is a ton of work, and yes she expects a lot, but rising to a challenge is the only way to succeed. do your work, manage ur time, and have fun. the fieldwork project can be really fun topics if your willing to look for a good topic. Rise to the occasion.

Great Teacher, but she gets a bad rap. She expects alot but will work with you if ask for help. She posts helpful articles to the Wiki and basically tells you how to get an A - few take her up on it because it means work. But she made the class interesting and we had some great discussions. Take her, do the work and learn how to succeed

I sure wish I would have checked this page before I signed up for her class. I took her class because it sounded interesting, but I had to withdraw after the mid-term, not because I did bad but because she is a horrible person and I couldn't take it anymore. She is mean and completely out of touch.

Warning stay as far away as possible. She picks favorites the first day and if she doesn't like you theres no changing her mind. She told me that she grades every student differently even if you follow her directions exactly. However, she changes the directions every other day and never tells you when. Very unhelpful, rude and disrespectful.

She is educated on the subject of folklore, sure. But Fish is always unprofessionally moody. Her lectures tend to ramble and are repetitive. She was unorganized, and extremely rude. Don't communicate with her at all because it's not worth it.

She is a great teacher that taught me, and the rest of my class, how to write a great paper. I think it is unfortunate that she gets bad ratings because she expects you to act like a college student. If you need your hand held then she is not the professor for you. If you are willing to do the work you will get a lot from her courses.

Absolutely despicable. Unhelpful, unclear, moody and completely unapproachable. Withdrew from her class because I saw no hope. Makes you redo every assignment and does not explain anything. Lectures include nostalgic ramblings that have relation to course material.
