Very manageable amount of work - watch two movies every other week, then write at least 800 words about both (after being prompted with questions). Incredibly straightforward and easy. Perfect summer class. Didn't learn much I didn't already know, but this is an easy credit and I watched some interesting journo movies I hadn't seen before.

Comment:

Prof. Greenwald is an excellent teacher. The class is fun and she uses good examples to get you thinking about ways to improve critical writing skills. She has a great sense of humor and is willing to help if you have questions.

If you're interested in review writing, the class will be fun for you. Very discussion based, a review is due almost every week. It's an easy class if you do the work and Prof. Greenwald is really nice and has a good sense of humor.

I feel like I didn't really learn a lot in this class. However, she's a nice lady and not a very hard grader. Worth your time if you're interested in the subject matter. Drink caffeine before class if you have trouble with night classes, because sometimes she's just not that interesting.

She's nice and helpful if you ask, but she really annoys me - she gets off-topic easily and tends to ramble. She's also extremely disorganized. I did well in her class but I was annoyed by her grading system because it's unclear.

Not a fun class by any means. She is unclear in her grading method until you get assignments back. Gave one quiz on the Times over the quarter. Take someone else - you might learn more.

The class is easy, poorly planned, and usually boring. BUT Greenwald herself is very interesting-- a seasoned, hard-nosed newspaper woman. She's also extremely nice and eager to help. Get her talking off-topic, about being a reporter or about current issues. You'll get more out of the class.

Not a bad class, but not a great one either. Still though I would recommend her over most of the other 363 instructors, if only because at least she has a sense of humor and is interesting at times. I felt a lot of this class involved time-wasting, but the workload was mercifully light so it kind of balances out.

Comment:

Prof. Greenwald is anything but a paycheck professor. Her Review & Criticism class was a lot of fun and helped to tighten my writing. You write magazine or newspaper style reviews of television shows, movies, books, art and theater. I highly recommend her for those needing JOUR 363. Great class.

Lectures will put you to sleep - not only are they dull but they don't relate at all to anything you'll be graded on. Most of the work is re-hashed from 231, though, so it's easy. WARNING: Laughs at her own jokes. No one else does.
