Comment:

Mark Herron a tough teacher: lots of work. The assignments feel absolutely absurd but they help. Lots of essays but I am glad, I no longer hate writing essays for other classes. Laziness doesn't cut it, lots of work each week. It is a class everyone should take, it will only improve your writing skills. Makes friends, you need them to get through.

Be ready to work. Period. Herron's class is not your regular Eng100 class where you still learn how to write the basic essay. You will be expected to write an essay every other week, be quizzed on both the assigned book reading and weekly vocabulary words, and keep a daily journal. He's a character and very wise. He keeps you on your toes!

He is a great professor! He gave many students and I As. But, if you don't work hard he will NOT give you good grades. He will give you A LOT of work but they are WORTH IT! Keep up with your journals, memorize the vocabularies, and read all the essays for the quiz! I promise it will it seem like easy As if you put effort.

On the first day of taking him four years ago, I was very intimidated. He's pretty stern and tells you his expectations up front. It's a lot of work, yes, but he is honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had during my college experience. He doesn't teach many classes, so if you are able to take him, do so! Just be prepared to work hard.

he's really an amazing teacher. there was a lot of work to keep up with, but it all pays off in the end. he helped make me a better writer and gave me more confidence in myself and in my writing. EXTREMELY intimidating at first, but is really an a nice man. he's definitely a teacher i'll never forget.

A bit intimidating at first. He makes tries to make it clear from the moment you sit down that he WON'T go easy on you. Honestly though I didn't think he was THAT hard on us. He gave quite a bit of homework. Several short essays a month, and a journal assignment a day. But he's a good guy. He's smart and gets to be nice if you're on his good side.

He was one of my favorite professors this semester. He will help you as much as he possibly can if you ask him to. His class is a lot of work but it is easy to succeed in his class if you just keep up. If you are not going to do the work then dont even bother taking the class. He is a great teacher!

This was my favorite class and teacher this semester. The work isn't hard, there's just a lot of it. Def. not for lazy people. Many essays, a daily journal, and vocab quizzes. He seems hard at first but stick it out and you'll be glad you will. He let us out early almost every class session, often times 45 minutes early or more. Take this class!

Finishing his class this semester, and getting a C for sure. At first, he seems to be extremely hard, but as long as you keep going to class and listening and taking notes (especially Vocab) in the class, you will be great in his class. one more thing, you must read essays in the book he will assigns for quizzes. In all, I respect him so so much

Herron at first seems like an ****. At first you'll hate him or fear him, but in the end you'll respect him. His class is extremely time consuming during the first two months, but toward the end he'll start to lighten up. He'll teach you more than just English, he'll teach you about life. Stick it through till the end and you'll get an A.

just finishing taking him and he is a good person hated him at first but he grows on u dont take him if u dont have time he gives out alot of essays they are super easy its just a time consuming class sometimes he's hard to understand and he rambles alot class was never longer than an hour canceled alot just do allll the work grades easy on essays

This teacher was the most disorganized person I have ever met. He seems easy, but the reading is really difficult and he never talks about it to help you understand it better. He goes off in random tangents during most of the class. At the end of the semester it seemed like he gave you a random grade and not a grade you feel you earned.

initially i was put off by his teaching style but i've grown accustomed and have gained so much from taking this class. herron is a great guy with a world of knowledge to pass on if you're patient. he has a different teaching style and cancels class often. overall i would take him again :)
