Matt is hands down the best professor I have ever had. His grading criteria are clear and he always gives you the exam material so there are no surprises. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches and could keep a full lecture engaged for hours, although he never runs longer than an hour and a half (even in 3-hour lectures)! Best prof ever!!

Prof Bellamy IS AMAZING! His lectures are interesting, captivating, and easy to follow. He makes history so much fun to learn, and there is only 1 test and 1 exam. I WOULD 100% RECOMMEND TAKING THIS CLASS!!! He cuts class short but always covers the material necessary. Best prof ever.

Amazing prof. Doesn't keep class longer than an hour and a half, very fun classes. No assigned readings either, and his lectures are always informative and engaging. He is a very accommodating professor as well.

Energetic, passionate and down-to-earth. He makes Canadian history fun and worth while. He is the best, doesn't assign readings from a textbook, cuts class short and makes himself available for feedback. His lectures are the highlight of the week.

He makes history fun! If I'd received any other prof, there's no way this class would be as fun to go to as it is with him. His boisterous personality along with his passion for Canadian history has you laughing and enjoying the time spent in class each lecture!

Matt is the greatest, coolest, funniest prof ever. There was no textbook, 1 essay, 1 test and 1 exam. You'll have to be sure to attend his class because there are no online slides or textbook but his lectures are short, engaging and funny. He is always available to help his students. His only downfall is he talks quickly but his classes end early.

Took his first year Canadian history course and loved him so I took him again in second year. Similar course but centralized around a few different major topics. Only 1.5 hour lectures a week, no text books, no reading. He's a really good lecturer and knows everyone's names. Probably the best prof I've ever had.

THIS GUY IS AWESOME! I had to take a first year history as part of my program and Matt made it so much fun! He is so passionate and he really knows his stuff! Show up, take notes on what he blatantly tells you to and you will pass with flying colours! He's also really approachable in and outside of class for help with the major essay!

Matt's an amazing prof! Was supposed to be a 3 hour lecture, but never lasted longer than an hour and a half. Makes learning about Canadian history fun by joking around, but is still very clear on the material. Acts as though he actually respects students. Only one essay and one test aside from the final exam, which made it harder to balance marks.

Matt's lectures are always around an hour, but he talks so fast they seem to go by even faster! The lecture info sheets/maps are super helpful. He gives you his cell # at the beginning of the year (always open to giving help). His anecdotes about history make the class so cool (even if you don't like history). You can tell he loves what he teaches

The best prof/teacher I have ever had. His lectures are only 1 hour and the whole hour is extremely interesting. He's super funny and tells amazing stories about really boring topics. He's also super helpful and is only a text away (he gives you his cell number). If you talk to him he'll give you great feedback and bump your mark sometimes.

Matt is an amazing prof and and even better person. His lectures are short and to the point, but full of memorable stories and you learn a lot. Bonus: never uses a textbook! My electives are precious but I'd use them all on him in a heartbeat!

Best prof I've ever had! Amazing lectures, knows everything he's teaching in detail and can make it interesting. Shortens the lecture every class but you'll still leave having learnt more than in any other class. Easy A as long as you attend class, very fair marker. Very charismatic and super hot 3

This guy is such a beauty. If I could take all my classes with Matt Bellamy, then I would. He brings a topic like Canadian history to life. I don't know anyone who could make something that is seen as stereotypically boring into an exciting series of lectures.

Professor Bellamy charges everything he does with the breath of his own spirit, this makes him bring history to life. And when we bring history to life, when we study it as a story instead of events, it makes it easier to learn.

Never have I been so thankful to have an incredible prof like Bellamy. He made boring Canadian History a lot more interesting than I expected. Only one midterm test, an essay outline, a 12-page essay and a final exam was required, so workload was hardly an issue. If you have the opportunity to take this class, enjoy and take really good notes!

He's a fantastic lecturer - he does it all from memory, no PPTs. Very charismatic, and a fast speaker so class often ends an hour early. He gave me a 1-week extension due to an anxiety issue, and it saved my whole CGPA. Marks hard but fair His Ph.D is in Canadian Beer History or something, so be prepared for beer-focused lectures once in a while

Matt Bellamy has truly changed my perspective on history. Coming out of high school I had a growing hate for history and thought it was a waste of time to learn. But Matt truly changed my perspective. I smile every time I go to his class and I am proud to say that I really enjoy history and Matt has opened up my eyes to it. p.s no readings!!!
