Comment:
Elroy was a great lecturer and got me to mostly understand what was going on despite the fact that I hadn't taken chem since my freshman year in HS. I didn't do a lot of the textbook readings and instead went to the OWLS sessions which were much more helpful for me. Lastly he's very fair and organized with the way his class is run and his grading.

Professor Elrod was my favorite professor this year, and he made chemistry genuinely enjoyable. He is always available to help and was very clear about what you had to know for the tests. His classes were often very exciting, as he would bring in experiments to show chemistry concepts, rather than just explaining them on a whiteboard. Great guy!

Extremely well organized and clear in presentation of material. He always starts on time, he always gets through exactly what he wants to, and always ends right when the class is supposed to end. His homework is tedious but helps you understand the material. He is knit-picky in grading, so double check all your work before you turn it in.

Elrod made me love chem! He's a great lecturer & explains concepts very clearly. Homework is fair (answer all the questions, correctness aside, you get 34 pts) DO problem sets! They are essential to internalizing lecture topics & reviewing for exams. Quizzes cover prob set topics. Helpful out of class, but you'll do poorly if you skip his lectures

Elrod is the man. He's one of the less intimidating chem professors I've had, and is just generally a really easy-going guy. He's a great lecturer and very clear in his expectations. He helped me through a rough semester and I learned a ton. Take anything you can with him!

Wonderful, brilliant, and impassioned! Elrod cares deeply about environmental issues and ties his activism into lectures. He makes chemistry understandable and tries very hard to make it exciting, engaging students through in-class experiments and video clips. He is extremely accessible during office hours and wants his students to do well.

Elrod is one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are really engaging, and he makes the fundamentals of quantum theory really accessible by saying things in a clear, understandable way. His exams are not easy, but are *very* similar to homework problems. Totally do-able class. Fun labs. Nice guy, super helpful.

A great professor, even when I thought I was lost he managed to show me that what I had just learned tied all together and "worked". Quantum chemistry is hard and builds up bit by bit, but Elrod teaches you everything you need to know right when you need to know it. Plus he's such an awesome cool nerd.

Great lecturer who manages to make quantum mechanics crystal-clear. Does a very good job at pointing out the key points in a complex derivation, and at illustrating the important qualitative, as well as quantitative, results of the theory. Always friendly and helpful. The workload is extensive (long lab reports!), but he grades very leniently.

Very clear and well-organized in lecture. Takes great pains to illustrate physical significance of the material; this could easily feel like an applied math course, but it does not. Keeps extensive unofficial office hours, and is always very helpful and willing to answer questions. Exams are long, but conceptually straightforward.
