If you can't do a mask I photoshop you may want to brush up on your PS skills before taking his class. He leaves the creative design process as your responsibility. If you ask he will give honest feedback. His design insight is solid. The website that outlines projects is very straightforward.

Comment:

This class was useless. He hardly got up from his seat. Minutes before class end he would rush the students out so he could go home. Critics are useless because he just wants to get it over with.I really wanted to learn something and graphic design is my major but this class was a big disappointment or he was. I would recommend taking someone else.

Basically useless class. Its all done from home (no matter what the schedule says). You can ask questions through email. Four assignments for the quarter. He gives you weeks to complete things that can be done in 2 hours. You just follow directions - no creativity. I don't recommend the class.

The dude might be knowledgeable, but not helpful at all. I don't feel learning anything at all. Easy A. 4 project for the whole quarter, no final or anything. U must know Photoshop, otherwise don't take the class. He does not explain anything and grades everyone A/B. If need for major Take it, if for knowledge, don't bother!

This was basically a self-paced class. Watch out! The work may be simple, but you really have to pace yourself. Don't waste last minute. There may be errors or complications. He's a nice man and will help you out. It's harder when you don't have the software needed for the class. So, be prepared.

Maybe in his lower levels he is more helpful, but once you are in upper level he doesn't do a thing!! I took his typography class and I went to Nagel for critique and suggestions or friends...I'm taking the business class this spring and it's ALL online, some say it's hard because again you just read do the projects yourself, Wish me luck~

He is the best graphic design teacher ive ever had, ive taked so many classes with him and hes really a great guy! very helpful if you need it and hes funny. by far better than the other graphic design teacher at de anza.

If you already know what you're doing (in Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) then take Cole. He's good for you if you don't need someone to hold your hand the whole time. And if you need help, then ask or email him. Check the schedule he has on his website so you know when he's gonna lecture about the next project and give the presentation requirements.

Not helpful at all. His lectures are unhelpful and word for word from the project outline. He leaves class during lab and doesn't walk around to help students. If he does provide help or assistance it is minimal and not very clear. You basically follow the directions from the class website and teach yourself.

This is not a class. The instructor does nothing. There are no demos, no assistance. If you ask him for help, he acts like he is doing you a favor. He absolutely does not earn his money and should be cut to help balance the budget. All you do is fix photos in photoshop.

projects are lame, you never really learn any thing new about graphic design, ALL the projects ppl turn in are "good" and "work" in his opinion so u never really know how ur work is any good. This guy just sits there on his mac, has his lunch and bails out within 15 mins of class. would be nice if at least he'd have a read a book on design but NOOO

This teacher is cake except he cant teach at all. He creates a webpage with what he wants you to do and thats it. Lists projects for the qtr and you can fly by in his class. Comes to class late and leaves early like in first 30 mins of class. You seriously do not learn art from him I have no idea why I take classes with him.

I only showed up to class like once every 2 weeks and still got an A. The couple times I did show up, I was the only one there! I seriously felt like I wasn't even enrolled in the class. Hey, at least I got an A.
