Comment:

Stellar professor who really cares. Don't take this class if you're not going to care about the class, it just disappoints him and ruins the entire class dynamic. If you're actually interested in German go for it and its wonderful, but if you're just taking it cause you heard its easy you're gonna have a bad time. Can't recommend him enough.

Comment:

The best professor I've had to date. He constantly give German culture lectures which are very interesting. I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and after a month I could speak better German than Spanish. The class is easy (more than Spanish). But more importantly he's a profound human and highly influential. I'd go to a pub w/ him any day.

You cannot fail German. McKinney is the greatest professor and guy at PLNU. He makes German incredibly easy and you will learn so much too. I wish they still offered German III and IV at PLNU. There are a lot of quizzes but he grades really easy. He really cares about his students and that they're actually learning. 10/10 would recommend!

The grade for his class was based entirely on reading quizzes and the final. His lectures are basically rants including politics despite politics having no relevance to the reading material of the class. He puts students down for not considering Russian literature as good as English and American lit. His lectures and personal stories are boring.

I walked into class with a bad attitude towards German. I had to take this class to satisfy language requirements. I'll be honest, I never put in the necessary effort to succeed. However, Mr. McKinney is one of my favorite professors. He's an awesome, genuine and caring dude. Take his class, if for not other reason than to know him.

Fact: Dr. McKinney will stretch you. The books he has you read are not just classics but tear deep into the human conditionâ€"and McKinney aids the opening. His lecture style is greatly effective and helps one understand not just the story but the culture behind the book and the life the author lived. I just wish I took more classes with him.

Hands down McKinney is one of THE best professors I have ever had. I would recommend taking anything and everything from him. He's not there for himself, he's there for the students. I haven't met a single student that doesn't recommend him. If you don't have him as a professor you are seriously missing out on something that will impact your life.

He gives out his tests prior to the date of the exam because he wants you to learn the concepts of German. It helps and I learned alot. Second Semester's final is completely unpredictable and extremely tough, thats if he gives you one. If you take this class, be awesome and that might be a possibility

McKinney is such an amazing prof! My mom had him when she was at PLNU. I seriously do not know how he does it. He teaches Lit, German, and Law AND is also fluent in Russian AND is a lawyer on the side! It really should be required to take one of his classes!

McKinney is the most amazing professor on this campus. EVERYONE should take him at least once! There's no busy work, just reading, and you learn so much! He ignited a passion for literature I didn't know I had and made me change my major. He's not afraid to challenge convention. I plan on taking as many classes with McKinney as possible. TAKE HIM!

Comment:

Great teacher of the German language. Also a great teacher of Literature as well. Ihad him for Masterpieces of World Literature. One of my top two favorite professors at PLNU.
