Dr. Setter is the funniest and smartest professor I have had at JCU. His class is challenging but very fun! You will learn how to think like a chemist and analyze data very well in this class. If you are taking analytical, definitely take Dr. Setter!

Super nice guy, and really knows what he's talking about... when you ask. Knows what he's doing but fails to prepare for lab often and makes mistakes that affect your data. These mistakes are often only caught by the students. He fixed a bunch of TA mistakes right before the semester ended, but not before everyone freaked out. Study for final!

Analytical chemistry is tough. Lectures can be confusing sometimes. Reading the book only helped so much. Doing his homework prepares you, but can be tough sometimes too. Once you get passed the learning curve, the class gets better. Study the material, do practice, and ask for help. Great professor, tough class nonetheless.

Dr. Setter is a great guy. CH261 is a tough class. You definitely need to study but he puts it in a way that you can understand. Even though he is the chair he always tries to make time for his students.

Scattered brain teaching style. He asks questions you won't be able to answer during class as a means to get you to think about the concept he is about to explain. When explained you're utterly confused. The textbook does not correspond with what's going on in class, so when you don't understand you're screwed. As to Qs are drawn out + unhelpful.

Running all around through out the lab, nice guy, but makes you answer the questions yourself which is difficult when you do not know how or where to look for the answer.

Great guy, good teaching style, kinda crazy sometimes (he pretends to be a particle bouncing off the wall haha) but VERY nice. Quizzes fairly easy. A VERY fair grader (partial credit!). Exams can sometimes be impossible cause theyre often WAY too long to possibly finish. but a great prof overall.

Honestly, he was one of the best teachers I've ever had, as well as the smartest man I've ever met. He was an excellent teacher for general chemistry, but if you have to take analytical chemistry it is essential that you take Dr. Setter.

He is one of the nicest professors. He is so understanding and he isn't out there to kill! He realized that we were non-science majors and so he just taught us the basics and tested us on the basics.
