Comment:
Dr. Moriarty really knows his stuff. It's not an easy class, but it's possible to get a good grade. Stats is not the most enjoyable and easiest class out there anyways, so be ready regardless of the professor that you take. Take home tests (except the final) and several homework too. he is very helpful during office hours.

Comment:
Dr. Moriarty tries his best, but in the process his power points become lengthy and confusing. His take home tests are surprisingly difficult, and he takes a Z score of the test averages that end up hurting most students grades. If math and stats come easy to you, you will survive the class, but if not I would recommend taking a different teacher.

Comment:
He is a nice man who tries to make concepts as clear as he possibly can. The problem is his power points are dry and he is not very helpful in class. All the tests are take home except for the final. Z scores will end up hurting your grade by dropping it almost a whole letter most of the time. He takes off a lot of points for tiny mistakes.

Comment:
DO NOT TAKE. I am a good student and got B's or higher in all of my other hard classes and this was one was just ridiculous. SO picky and takes lots of points off for little mistakes and everything has to be done exactly how he wants it. All tests are on concepts so its impossible to get a good grade unless you study 23 hours a day for it

This was the absolute worst class I have ever taken. All of the tests are take-home and they still don't help your grade. There are way too many concepts that need to be known in just a semester, and he rushes through each concept. The entire class is curved and based on "z-scores" so it's competetive and harder than it needs to be. AVOID!!!!!!

Horrible! Must be done his way... even if you got the answer correct you still lost points. Can't work on homework with other students, asked for help and got nothing. Made me feel so incredibly stupid and called some of his students hopeless at one point. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! Completely ignored my emails regarding missed class for a funeral, refused to help me when i went into his office, belittled me in class and otherwise, because of him I have no interest or desire to continue my work in psychology as I refuse to be apart of his department while he is the chair.

Research Methods:he's a pretty nice guy and he gets back to you really fast when emailing. Other than that class is confusing. He gives too much material that you HAVE to know for the tests. I study a lot and it makes no difference. Avoid if possible but not be prepared for a lot of hard work. you'll pass, don't expect more than a C or B

Do NOT take him. I am always willing to work hard, but hard work was useless in this class. He demands that things are ONLY done his way. He is extremely demeaning and makes everyone feel stupid. Constantly says things like "now you have to THINK for this..." and makes you feel like you are absolutely inferior.

This class is Stats...there was more focus on the concepts than on the math to the point that it was beyond difficult. The math portion of the tests and homework were not hard, but the multiple choice and short answer were made more complicated than what they needed to be. And his grading was STUPID. Partial curve and partial not curve. AVOID!!!

I absolutely hated this class. Moriarty was completely confusing in the way he taught, and it was so boring to sit through his class. We had 5 tests and a final, and they were all impossible.

Don't walk, RUN! I've always done ok with math, but stats was horrible! I went to almost every office hour and left feeling like an idiot. I got a stats tutor but was penelized on tests for not doing the problems the way he taught them (but the much easier ways my tutor showed me). He teaches straight from power point . Avoid Avoid Avoid.

Dr. Moriarty was very helpful by far the best stats teacher in the psych department. You have to work your butt off but I learned a ton. Contrary to wht other people said he actually was very helpful and understanding as long as you tried hard.

I had him as a prof & advisor. As an advisor he is pessimistic telling everyone that they are not getting into grad school. But I must admit as a teacher he knows his stuff. He doesnt read verbatim he explands whats on his slides although impossible to get all info. He avg your hard & curved % for total grade very fair. Good teacher but grumpy man

This class is hard but you will survive. Moriarty is hard and puts up a tough image but out of class he is a good person, although that is hard to remember when his classes are so boring and difficult. I won't lie it was the class I disliked the most this semester but seriously- go into his office for help! It will do wonders.

This professor is not just a horrific teacher but a terrible human. I wish that I did not have to say this about anyone, but my feelings about this run deep and I do not wish my experience with Dr. Moriarty even on my worst enemy. Steer Clear!!
