Comment:

One of the hardest classes I've ever taken at USD. She is a grouchy woman, with very strong viewpoints. She stares right at you (very scary). She assigns A LOT of work and even overachievers will have a hard time. There are no tests, except for some pop quizzes to make sure you keep up with your reading.

BIG PET PEEVE about this class and its not just me. She assigns a lot of work and doesn't give clear criteria to what she's looking for and yet grades super tough even though we spend time trying to make it perfect. She doesnt give any feedback on how to improve. This is not teaching, but giving students grades they dont deserve.

She doesn't want you in her office and she doesn't like questions in class. Do not go into this class with any strong views, if yours don't match hers your failing. She does have a good education though, a gender studies degree from emery. If thats not enough to convince you maybe her didactic tone when and if she answers your question will.

Comment:

Really interesting class and a lot of information to learn that applies to your own body. The teacher is extremely hard but also very helpful. She can be intimidating but if you show her that you aren't intimidated she is actually very friendly. You MUST study in advance. NO CRAMMING!!!! Difficult class but not impossible. I enjoyed her.

Very intelligent & determined woman. Explains things well, but YOU have to be a really good notetaker. Seems easier than it is.Do study guides WELL in advance & ask related questions via email or office hours. PARTICIPATE. She is extremely fair, but a tough grader-can clearly read through bs- know material well. Challenging but you learn A LOT.

Honestly..this class has the hardest exams that I have taken in my entire life! I studied by butt of for the first two but soon came to realize that if I study the whole weekend for like freakin 50 plus hours or go out and get **** all weekend ...I will still have the same chance of getting an A no make that a B no make that passing!!

This is notably the hardest class in the psychology department. I dont think it is hard because of material but because of the lack of delivering the information. She knows her material cold but is not very good at relaying that information to the class. EXAMS are EXTREMELY hard and some questions are not covered in book or in lecture. Beware!

Very smart teacher. Expects A LOT of detail. Very clear consistent lectures. Uses powerpoint and all slides are available on WebCT. VERY INTELLIGENT. Intimidating at times, I have had her for three classes and still dont really feel comfortable talking to her. If you work hard in her class you can do well. VERY HARD tests. Health psych was a very good class, interesting issues, hard tests, fun community service. Research Lab was difficult but interesting. And I am still in hormones and behavior...

She is a very difficult teacher. If youy opnion differs from her's she will give you a low grade. She is very picky about her papers, and does enjoy telling you what is wrong with them. If you are a male watch out because all of her classes are based around feminism in some way.

Dr. S.E. is very knowledgeable and delightfully sarcastic. I really like her. Her classes are demanding, but if you do the work you will probably do well. She is fair. . . and more understanding than you might think.

She is by far the coldest personI have ever met! Its hard to call her a professor becasue she barely teaches! She speeds through all the important info and other times she lets you out early. Getting a C in her class is like getting an A in a normal class! This class is hard but SHE makes it worse!

WORST teacher I have ever had! Not helpful at all. She knows her stuff, but doesn't relay the important info well. Health fair is fun, but class is hell. Tests insanely hard and incorporate three ?'s within one.Avoid at all costs.

She is a really nice teacher, just the subject has a lot of material. I would suggest if you don't have time to make this class #1, take it later. very rewarding working with the Kids @ the health fair. Tests are a litte hard, but health fair is great.
