Comment:

Taught the class for the first time and used that as an excuse to be totally disorganized. Grading between her and the TA was inconsistent. Averages for the drafts were in the 50%s. Her expectations are nowhere to be found as the whole class never knew what they were doing. Also never answers emails so you won't get any help from her.

Boring, disorganized and rambles. Gives no clear expectations and her feedback is unconstructive. Her first time teaching the class is not an excuse for not creating material that actually work towards creating a good argumentative linguistic paper. She finally gave a guideline about what she wants in papers in the 2nd to last class. Way too late

Prof Nancy was very very helpful and she's very knowledgeable! Even though her lecture was alil boring bcuz of her 'monotone' voice. I'd suggest you to go to her office hours. She provided clearer instruction and in-depth materials during office hours, compared to lecturer. Some of her midterms were quite hard but some were not! and study the text!

She's really nice & kind. However, a bit boring. She reads off the slides which are directly off the textbook. Sometimes it gets confusing. The course w/ her isn't hard. I'm grabbing A's by just reading & taking my own notes from the textbook. If youre willing to teach yourself & have easy tests this is the course for you. I'm taking 481 w/ her too

Nancy is the sweetest lady you will ever meet! However, she uses VERY technical language and abstract definitions of concepts and has trouble coming up with additional examples. Exams were easy though, just the assignments with a few words changed.

I've taken both 322 and 324 from her. She is very nice and reasonable. The tests are quite difficult, but if you study, you will manage. She gives very good notes but the lectures are boring. Overall, she is an excellent professor.

I've taken her classes twice, both 222 and 322. Her notes are very organized and clear. Her tests are fair and she always prepare you for the test well in advance (eg. give you sample questions and tips) Also, she's very nice during her office hours. I would say she is the nicest ling prof @ sfu so far.

Nancy is a very nice and very smart lady. Her tests are fair, really close to what was done in class. The only thing is that if no one asks questions, she lectures on pretty much like a robot.
