Comment:
Dr. Pappas is heavily critiqued for his lack of organization, which is true. But, he is a terrific professor to take if you are a history major. He is a wealth of knowledge; the class is an easy A if you put forth, even a little bit of effort; he extends deadlines. Don't let rating fool you. Take the class. It's worth it!

Took online class. Professor never responds to emails and doesn't understand blackboard (which is where he puts all the classwork). Several graded portions of the course were inaccessible and with him not responding to emails about these errors makes his course impossible to pass.

This man is a true gem in the History Dept. I read the critiques, and understand a concern here or there, but ppl... this is a VERY learned man. All he asks is that you don't look on your phone or sleep in class. That's it! Absolutely inspiring lectures, he says he only knows 1 or 2 languages but he is a genuine philologist (look it up). Easy A.

Everything is online. You show up to class because attendance is a grade but his lectures are extremely unorganized and they make no sense. Most of the time you don't know whats due because thats not very well taken care of either. The work is super easy, but he's very very "old fashioned". If you actually want to learn don't take his class.

Pappas is a very nice professor, he's just heavily unorganized. He focuses on using Blackboard for tests, map quizzes, and discussion boards. His class is an easy A, so long as you put in an ACTUAL effort to the discussion boards. HIs study guides are exhaustive, every test answer is on the study guide, so long as you read it. Bad with technology.

By far one of the most unorganized teachers I've ever had. The quizzes, tests, and discussions were sometimes missing, or inaccessible. He will change the dues dates/extend testing time if he makes a mistake, but he is very hard to reach because he does not answer emails, only phone calls, which he does not answer either. But easy A despite this.

He is very disorganized, isn't good with technology, & doesn't answer emails. But realizes this & will reset online assignments when asked in class. Online discussions, map quizzes, & mult choice tests. Easy A. He is super nice & sweet, & brings swords & helmets to class. Very understanding, willing to help, & offers lots of extra credit. Take him!

I took Dr. Pappas for my first semester in graduate school online. The class was engaging and interesting. Dr. Pappas provides specific feedback on your papers. My writing improved tremendously because of his feedback. He's a pretty easy grader if you follow the rubric.

Professor does not know how technology works. Is so unorganized that it affects your grade and posts notes and assignments for the class the minute before he shows up to the class to lecture. During the lectures he does not cover the material at all. Leaving you to wonder what your supposed to accomplish in the course. Do not take this professor.

Dr. Pappas graded easily but most assignments were online. He doesn't really know how to use blackboard very well so things got messed up a lot. The syllabus was pretty much thrown out the window after less than a month. However, despite all this Pappas was a great lecturer and always willing to answer questions. He really does care about students.

take him in person. NOT online. he NEVER replies to emails. sends generic emails every once in a while. does not post lectures. makes you read random online articles and pdf files, podcasts, random youtube videos are how he teaches. each lesson has about 3-4 hour long videos. very time consuming. pro"multiple attempts at exams, easy map quizzes.

He never responded to emails, he was weeks late in grading assignment, and he gave so many assignment that it is almost impossible to keep up with it all. 4 Discussion Boards a week with 2 map quizzes. There are several analytical quizzes as well as 4 exams. Be ready to read online articles and watch videos.

Doctor N. Pappas is a very excellent professor. He is very knowledgeable and knows his history. He has standard tests but you can opt out for films reviews... Do that! Very engaging with his students and cares about your grades as long as you do. Attend class and he is more easy on your final grade. Slacking gets you what you deserved.

It is a lot of writing: weekly discussion questions (but only requires a paragraph-long answer); a couple book reviews; and a very long historiography paper. But he's VERY fair. I have taken him twice and I recommend him, but he does require quite a bit of work.

Become friends with someone in the class because this guy does not return e-mails in a timely manner, if he ever does. His class requires weekly discussion questions, 2 book reviews, and a long historiography paper. It is A LOT of work, but I have seen much worse (Hendrickson). He is a very fair grader and you can pull off an A without problems.

Middle East 500AD-1700, Lectures are boring & unorganized. He is a nice professor & will attempt to help you. He gives about 60 terms to study from and 21 possible questions. Out of 60, he chooses 10 for the test; and out of 21, he will choose 3. Tests are not too bad, but he is sort of picky. It depends on who you are. Yes, he shows favoritism.

GREAT PROFESSOR! so easy it's ridiculous! I didn't pay attention in class, didn't take any notes, studied for the test the day of, and I made an A. Great GPA booster. There's no excuse to make a B. Don't buy the text. Drops the lowest test grade, AND for the remaining 3, you can do a movie review to replace your 2nd lowest grade. TAKE HIM!

Absolutely the best! Take lots of notes and listen carefully. You will know what's on the test by how excited he gets about the topic. Always available for questions and grading is very fair. Anyone who doesn't love his class is not paying attention.
