Fantastic class, don't let the other reviews detract you. No book, and attendance is mandatory. All you need to do is get to know her personally regardless of extra credit/assignments, and you'll get the A. Don't be lazy, take the time and get to know her during office hours and it will pay off guaranteed

Great class & professor if you are interested, or at least open, to theatre. Professor also spends much time philosophizing about life. Attendance is not mandatory, but pay attention if you attend. Quizzes are not difficult if you take notes & review them beforehand. Lots of opportunities for extra credit.

She is such a sweetheart and easily one of my favorite teachers at UM. She is really passionate about theatre and makes the class as interesting as she possibly can. No need to buy the textbook... just take down a few notes during class (vocab and names and such). Definitely an easy A if you do all of the extra credit opportunities!

This teacher is great, she is so sweet and really cares about what she is teaching you. The textbook is not necessary and there is SO much extra credit available. Getting an A is fairly easy just go to class, her tests come straight from what she says in lecture. I would highly recommend her.

Comment:

Ms. Dolan is such a character, but is sooo sweet. Many people get annoyed with this class, but that is because they don't give what she is saying a chance. This is how theatre should be taught! She starts with the beginning of human language and even before religion which more actors and people in general need to know.

Patricia is one of the most strange & interesting professors I have ever met & I love it! Her classes are intriguing & different than anything I have ever taken. Go to class, take notes & you will be fine. Whether you're a theatre major or not, she explains thoroughly & has great office hours.

Easy and fun class if you need arts credit. lectures are interesting and she teaches to the "non-major" most of the time- assuming you have no prior knowledge. offers plently of extra credit, and tests are easy if you go to class.

No less weird than any of my other professors who came of age in the 1960's. She was quite accomodating to my difficult senior year and you have plenty of opportunities for extra credit if you blow an exam. She'll always start on a tangent and tie it smoothly into the lecture, stimulating plenty of interest--for those who care, at least.

I thought I was going to learn acting in this class. However, what I learned was close to nothing. The class is like a boring kindergarten recess with no structure or substance. There are no graded assignments so your grade for the class is based on HOW MUCH SHE LIKES YOU! If her benz doesn't say anything about her arrogance her teaching does.

She is so sweet! She really gives alot in her lectures, and she doesn't stop. Generally the topics are fairly interesting, and she links it often with events of today like the hurricanes. Her quizzes arent that hard.

The class itself isn't so bad and she can actually be interesting minus the fact that she is the scariest professor I've ever had. I missed class only once and always took notes, never talked in class, but if I even yawned she would call me out on it. She's nice only to certain "types" of people. It's really quite odd.

Most enthusiatic and caring teacher at UM. Sure she is wacky but after all it is drama. Just show up participate and you wont have any tests. Easy A and lots of fun. More like a gymboree class than a university course.
